How to check your Lenovo battery health
Review battery details in Lenovo Vantage
- Open Lenovo Vantage and go to My Device Settings.

Generate a Windows battery report
- Open Command Prompt or PowerShell.
- Enter
powercfg /batteryreportand press Enter. - Open the report at the file location displayed in the command output. Compare Full Charge Capacity with Original Design Capacity and review the battery history.
Read the figures as diagnostic context, not a universal pass-or-fail test: Lenovo does not provide a single capacity percentage that means every Lenovo battery should be replaced. Lenovo also notes that Full Charge Capacity can be slightly above Original Design Capacity because of normal manufacturing variation; that comparison by itself does not establish a fault. When a battery gauge reset may help
If the displayed charge behaves erratically or the laptop shuts down even though the gauge still shows charge, a Battery Gauge Reset may improve the accuracy of the reading. Lenovo describes a manual procedure: charge to 100%, leave AC power attached for at least an hour, then discharge the battery to 5% or lower. Supported systems may also offer a reset function in Vantage; follow the instructions for your model. A reset lets battery management relearn Full Charge Capacity. Check warranty and compatibility before replacement
Confirm warranty coverage and the correct part
Lenovo’s Battery Q&A states a standard battery warranty duration of one year, but actual terms can depend on the product, region, and any upgrades or replacement plans. Check the warranty details for your specific device before paying for a battery or repair. Use the laptop’s exact model or serial/product information to find its User Guide, identify the approved battery part number, and confirm compatibility. Determine whether the battery is customer-replaceable

After a replacement

Battery behavior that does not necessarily mean failure

Use charge limits to care for a battery, not diagnose it
For systems that stay connected to AC, Lenovo recommends setting the upper charge limit to 80% or less where the system supports that option.
