First determine whether the game has no store page, its page will not let you buy it, or a game you already own is missing from your library. Those point to different causes: regional availability or release timing, account or device restrictions, a removed listing, or a purchase and license issue. Check the exact title, console model, account region, and purchase history before concluding the game is gone.
Identify what is missing
Use the symptom to choose the right checks:
- No store page: Check the game’s release status, account region, parental controls, device compatibility, and whether the listing is still available.
- A page appears, but you cannot purchase: Check the account’s region and any purchase restrictions, then confirm the game is available for that console.
- You bought it before, but it is absent from your library: Check the purchasing account, transaction history, hidden items, subscription entitlement, and licenses.
- The base game is present, but DLC is missing: Check whether the add-on and game versions are compatible by region.
Check release timing and account region
A store does not necessarily show every game in every country, and a game may not appear before its release. Nintendo says that a missing eShop game is either not yet released or unavailable for purchase in the user’s region. See Nintendo’s eShop guidance.

Check the country or region attached to the store account, then compare it with the game’s official regional store page. Microsoft also lists country or region as a possible reason an app or game is unavailable; moving countries can affect access to previously available apps. Its support guidance is available in Spanish; menu names and details may differ by language and platform.

Check restrictions, compatibility, and listing status
Parental controls and signed-in account
Confirm that you are signed in to the intended account. On Microsoft platforms, family or parental settings may restrict what can be found or purchased. Check the relevant family settings if the store hides a title or blocks its purchase.

Console compatibility
A game’s availability on one device does not establish that it is available on another. Microsoft notes that a title available on PC may not be available on another device or Xbox. Check the listing for the exact console model, rather than relying on a search result for a different platform.
Removed or unavailable listings
A missing result alone does not prove that a game was delisted. Check the platform’s official store and the publisher’s page for the exact game and region. Microsoft notes that removed listings may take time to disappear from the store, so a stale result does not necessarily mean purchasing is still possible.

Find and redownload a game you already bought
PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4
- Sign in to the PlayStation account that originally purchased the game.
- Check transaction history to confirm the purchase, and check whether access came through a PlayStation Plus entitlement that is still active.
- Look for the game among hidden items in the library.
- If the game shows a padlock or cannot be located despite the purchase, restore licenses. On PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses. On PS4, go to Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses. PlayStation says restoring licenses can help with these issues; see PlayStation’s license guidance.
Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch
- Open Nintendo eShop using the account that bought the game and find the game’s details page.
- If the page shows a Virtual Game Cards button with a redownload option, Nintendo says the game was purchased and can be redownloaded at no cost.
- If the game appears under Hidden Software, redownload was disabled. Follow Nintendo’s instructions to re-enable redownload and load the virtual game card: Nintendo’s redownload guidance.
When the game is there but its DLC is not
Check that you are using the account that bought the add-on and compare the region of the DLC with the region of the game. Nintendo says mismatched regions prevent purchased DLC from appearing in that version of the game. Its region guidance explains how to determine a game or DLC’s region.
Use a physical copy only after checking compatibility
A disc or cartridge may be an alternative if the digital listing is unavailable, but availability depends on the specific game, console, and region. Verify that the game has a physical edition for your platform and that it works with your console before buying; a physical version cannot be assumed for an unnamed title.
