The default PIN works only if it has not been changed; an app or connected set-top box may use a separate PIN.
1. Check which device is asking for a PIN
Before changing anything, identify where the prompt appears. A PIN requested by Samsung TV settings may be different from parental controls inside a streaming app or on a connected set-top box. Samsung Colombia advises checking the app or device provider when its own restriction is involved; its guidance applies to products purchased in Colombia: Samsung Colombia’s PIN guide.

2. Try 0000 only if you have not changed the PIN
0000 is Samsung’s default PIN, not a way to override a PIN previously chosen by the owner. If you know the PIN was changed, or 0000 is rejected, move to the remote reset steps. Samsung’s U.S. instructions say a PIN is set during initial setup on 2025 TVs, projectors and smart monitors, and can be changed later: Change the PIN on your Samsung TV.
3. Reset the PIN with the correct remote sequence
Keep the TV on and use the sequence that matches the remote and the instructions for your TV’s model and region. Do not combine steps from different sequences. Button labels and supported procedures vary.

For the U.S. 2025 instructions
Samsung’s U.S. support page for 2025 TVs, projectors and smart monitors gives this sequence to restore the PIN to 0000:
- Press Volume.
- Press Volume Up.
- Press Return.
- Press Volume Down.
- Press Return.
- Press Volume Up.
- Press Return.
These instructions are scoped to the devices and year stated on Samsung’s U.S. PIN support page; do not assume the sequence applies to every Samsung TV.

For other models and remote layouts
Samsung’s UK and Australian guidance distinguishes Smart Remotes from standard remotes and gives different button sequences. Check the instructions for your local market and exact model before proceeding: Samsung UK: reset your TV PIN and Samsung Australia: change your TV PIN. Australia notes that on earlier models PIN settings may be under System Manager; menu locations can vary by model and software.

Confirm that the remote is paired and responding
If no number-entry keyboard appears or the TV does not respond to the buttons, the issue may be remote connection rather than the PIN. Samsung UK advises holding Return and Play/Pause together until a connection message appears. Follow the pairing guidance for your remote and TV on Samsung UK’s PIN page.

Check for a software update
Samsung support also recommends checking for available software updates. Menu paths differ by model and software version, so use the instructions for your TV rather than assuming a single path; see Samsung UK’s support guidance or Samsung Latin America’s PIN guidance.

If the TV’s PIN still will not reset, find the model code and verify that you followed the instructions for that model, remote and region. If the prompt belongs to an app or external box, contact its provider instead of resetting the TV PIN.

Samsung UK describes Remote Management through the TV’s Support menu as a way to get service-center assistance; the TV must be online, and a remote reset erases data. A factory reset is a broader action, not a PIN-only reset: Samsung says it deletes Samsung accounts and downloaded apps and restores initial settings. Before choosing it, make sure you understand the consequences and have the information needed to set the TV up again. See Samsung UK’s restart and factory-reset guidance.
