First check the official registry’s registrar resources for available alternatives. Consider a dispute only if you have a qualifying legal right and evidence that the current holder lacks a legitimate interest and registered or uses the domain in bad faith; simply wanting the name is not enough.
Check whether the domain is unavailable and find alternatives
Start with Register.si’s registration guidance and registrar resources. The registry says a .si domain cannot already be taken or reserved. Availability can change, so check again when you are ready to register an alternative.

When comparing names, weigh whether people can recognize, spell and say the name easily; whether it could be confused with another organization or brand; and whether it fits your audience and project. Check the extensions that matter to you as well as .si. These are practical decision criteria, not a ranking backed by published performance statistics.
Use WHOIS for basic information
Register.si’s WHOIS service provides basic information about a domain, including its holder, technical contact and registrar. That information may help you understand the domain’s status or identify the registrar, but it is not a promise that the holder will sell or transfer the name.
#1 Best Overall
Do not assume that WHOIS exposes all holder details. Register.si says it provides additional holder data to third parties only for justified reasons, such as exercising legal rights or using alternative dispute resolution. The registry describes a substantiated request process for seeking that information.
Decide whether you have grounds for a .si domain dispute
A domain name is not itself an industrial property right such as a trademark. It may, however, correspond to a trademark, company name, personal name or another right. Register.si’s domain-dispute guidance explains the distinction. A preference for a particular name, by itself, is not a basis to take it from its current holder.

For cases initiated on or after 7 October 2025, the English Version 5 ARDS Rules of Procedure require a complainant to establish all three elements:

- You have a qualifying right. The rules list rights including a relevant trademark, registered company name, copyright, registered geographic designation, personal name or another right recognized under Slovenian law.
- The current holder has no legitimate interest in the domain name.
- The domain was registered or is being used in bad faith.
Having a qualifying right is only one part of the test. Review the rules and evidence requirements carefully, and consider case-specific advice from a Slovenian legal professional before filing.

The ARDS complaint process uses online forms. The complaint must identify the parties and domain, explain its grounds, include supporting evidence and provide the other required declarations and documents. The process is conducted in Slovenian. Register.si’s ADR Procedure Guidelines say legal representation is not mandatory; that does not remove the need to meet the rules or support your claims with evidence.
The same guidelines estimate that a case usually takes about two to three months. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed deadline. The rules do not exclude seeking protection through court.

| Number of domains | Fee before one arbiter | Three-arbiter panel supplement |
|---|---|---|
| One to five | €700 including VAT | €700 |
| Six to ten | €1,200 including VAT | €1,200 |
| More than ten | Set by the administrator | Not stated in the Version 5 schedule |
These amounts are from the Version 5 rules published by Register.si; verify the applicable current fee and procedure with the registry before filing.
Quick Recap
Choose your next step
- If you do not have a qualifying rights claim: choose a suitable alternative and check its availability through the registry’s registrar resources.
- If you may have a rights claim: review the ARDS eligibility test and gather documents that support each required element before deciding whether to file.
- If you need holder information: use WHOIS for basic details; request additional data only through the registry’s justified, substantiated process.
