Then follow its status in the swap provider’s official tracker and verify the destination chain before trying anything else. A confirmed source transaction does not prove the destination transfer finished, and retrying a pending swap can create a duplicate.
Start by identifying the transaction and its current stage
A cross-chain swap usually involves three stages: a transaction on the source chain, processing by a bridge or route provider, and delivery or a final swap on the destination chain. The swap interface may show progress or completion before tokens are visible in the destination wallet, so check each stage separately.

- Open the activity or history in the wallet or service that started the swap. Find the exact swap and record its transaction hash or signature, source and destination networks, sending and receiving addresses, token symbols, amount, and approximate time. Save a screenshot of the displayed status.
- Check the source transaction in the source chain’s official explorer. Confirm whether it is pending, confirmed, or failed. A pending transaction is not the same as a bridge delay.
- If the source transaction confirmed, open the status tracker named by the initiating service. The appropriate tracker depends on the route: Uniswap directs users to its activity tab and, for its supported flow, the Across explorer; Phantom directs users to LI.FI Scan for its flow.
- Check the destination chain’s official explorer. Look for an arrival transaction and verify the receiving address, network, token, and settled amount.
Keep the source hash or signature handy throughout. A hash shown for a retry or destination transaction does not by itself prove that the tokens arrived.
If the source transaction is pending or failed
Pending or not yet confirmed
Wait rather than submitting the swap again. Phantom classifies an unconfirmed source transaction as a wait state and warns that retrying may create a duplicate. Circle’s USDC Bridge guidance recommends checking whether confirmations are increasing; if they are, wait and check again.

Failed on the source chain
A source-chain failure is different from a confirmed source transaction followed by a stalled bridge. Check the initiating service’s status details to see whether the source asset remains in the wallet or was returned. Do not assume that a failure shown in the swap interface describes every later stage.
If the source confirmed but the bridge is still processing
Use the provider’s tracker to determine whether the route is waiting for bridge processing, attempting a destination-side step, or reporting a failure. A countdown is an estimate, not necessarily a deadline: Phantom says its displayed estimate reflects bridge processing rather than the time needed for underlying blockchain confirmations, and a swap may take longer than the countdown.

Timing statements are route-specific. Uniswap Labs Support says most cross-chain swaps on its service complete within a few minutes; that is not a benchmark for all providers or routes. Phantom’s instruction to contact support after a cross-chain swap has been stalled or failed for more than an hour applies to its own support process, not as a universal bridge timeout.
If the swap says complete but the tokens are missing
- Check the destination network. Make sure the wallet is displaying the chain the swap was meant to reach.
- Look up the destination transaction. Verify the receiving address, token, and amount on the destination chain’s explorer. Do not rely only on a displayed transaction hash; in 0x’s status model, a destination retry hash can appear before it is mined, while
bridge_filledmarks successful completion of that retry. - Confirm the wallet supports the received token. An explorer record can show a token at the address even if the wallet does not display or support it.
- Compare the actual settlement with the route’s expected asset. A failure or recovery step may deliver an intermediate bridge token rather than the token originally sent.
Uniswap’s guidance notes that a completed interface state can appear while bridging is still processing. If the source is confirmed and no destination transaction appears, Phantom advises against resetting the wallet; keep the transaction details and contact the service’s official support.

What failure and recovery statuses can mean
Some routes perform a swap before bridging, after bridging, or both. As a result, the token returned or delivered after a failure may differ from the input token. For example, a route that wraps ETH to WETH before bridging may return WETH; one that first swaps ETH to USDC may return USDC. Verify the recovery chain, token, and settled amount in the provider’s status details before taking another action.
| Provider or route | Documented status or outcome | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 0x status tracking | Some failures trigger an automatic origin refund; some involve a destination retry. For an automatic refund, refund_pending means continue polling; refund_succeeded reports completed refund details. A destination retry is successful when status is bridge_filled. Some providers are not tracked by this status service. |
Check the status response for the chain, token, and settled amount. For terminal failed, 0x says to contact support with the zid. |
| Polygon Trails | For the documented case of funds stuck in an intent address, users can connect the originating wallet through Trails transaction history or its explorer and select “abort” to sign a recovery transaction. | This is a Trails-specific procedure, not a general bridge recovery instruction. Use it only for the matching Trails transaction and official interface. |
| PancakeSwap Across route | PancakeSwap documents that a source-chain failure returns the original token on source. For an Across bridge failure, it estimates a refund of the bridged asset on source within 90 minutes to two hours. If the destination swap fails, the bridged asset remains on destination without the final swap. | These outcomes apply to the documented route, not all bridges. PancakeSwap also describes a faster Relay refund for a specific SOL-to-EVM scenario; check the route-specific guidance for that case. |
Do not treat a provider’s refund estimate or a retry hash as proof that funds have been returned or delivered. Check the relevant chain and the provider’s confirmed status.

When and how to contact official support
Contact the service that initiated the swap when its support criteria are met or when the provider’s tracker cannot explain a confirmed source transaction with no destination arrival. Timelines and requested details differ by service.
- Phantom: Its guidance says to contact Phantom Support when a cross-chain swap is stalled or failed for more than an hour. Include the source and destination wallet addresses, source hash or signature, tokens and amount, and a status screenshot if available. Phantom says it cannot reverse or force a bridge transaction, though it can escalate the issue to the provider.
- Circle USDC Bridge: Circle advises contacting Customer Care when a delay exceeds the expected time for the destination chain. Its requested details include the transaction hash, wallet and provider/version, networks, date and time, amount, and, for web cases, browser, operating system, and device information.
Reach support through the wallet or protocol’s official website or app. Never share a seed phrase or private key with someone claiming to recover a bridge transaction. Phantom also warns against unfamiliar token links or claim instructions.
