Before buying camera-enabled smart glasses, compare the exact model’s camera and storage, battery claims, phone and regional compatibility, recording-indicator behavior, fit and prescription options, and seller terms. Features vary by model and generation: for example, Meta’s Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics Gen 2 listing specifies a 12 MP camera and 32 GB of storage, but those figures should not be treated as category-wide standards.
Compare the exact model, not just the product category
“Camera-enabled smart glasses” can describe products with different capture modes, storage, controls, phone requirements, and optical designs. Check the complete model name and generation on the listing, then compare its published specifications with your intended use. Manufacturer specifications describe what the company lists; they are not independent performance tests.

Camera, video, and storage
Look for still-image resolution, video resolution and frame rate, recording-length options, storage capacity, and how captures are started and transferred. A high resolution alone does not tell you whether recording length, storage, or the workflow suits you.
As one model-specific example, Meta’s Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics Gen 2 listing specifies a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, 3024 × 4032-pixel image acquisition, and 32 GB of flash storage. The listing gives video modes of 720p+ at 120 fps, 1080p+ at 30 or 60 fps, and 3K Ultra HD at 30 fps. Meta’s September 2025 announcement describes Gen 2 as adding 3K Ultra HD video up to 60 fps with ultrawide HDR. These figures come from different official pages and are not interchangeable promises for every Gen 2 model or mode; check the exact product listing for the glasses you plan to buy. Check battery claims and what comes in the box
Battery life depends on use, so treat manufacturer figures as estimates rather than guaranteed runtime. Meta’s September 2025 announcement says Gen 2 lasts up to eight hours with typical use, can charge to 50% in 20 minutes, and has a case that provides up to 48 additional hours of charging. The Blayzer Optics Gen 2 listing describes more than eight hours of battery life and up to 48 hours from a fully charged case. These are Meta’s published claims, not independent test results. (Meta, September 2025; Meta Store listing)
Check whether the stated runtime fits your pattern of recording, listening, calls, or other features, and whether charging access will be convenient. Confirm the box contents before buying accessories: the cited Blayzer Optics Gen 2 listing includes a charging case but says a USB-C charging cable is not included. The regional FAQ mentions a USB-C charging plug for wall charging, so verify what your own package and charging setup require. (Meta Store listing; Ray-Ban ASEAN FAQ)
Verify phone, app, account, and regional support
Compatibility is a prerequisite: confirm the requirements for the exact glasses, phone, and market before ordering. Check the supported iOS or Android version, whether the companion app is available to you, any account requirement, internet and location-service requirements, and whether the product is sold and supported in your country.
The Blayzer Optics Gen 2 listing gives iOS 15.2 or later and Android 10 as minimums, and points buyers to a full supported-device list. A separate Ray-Ban ASEAN FAQ lists Android 10 or later or iOS 14.4 or later, plus location services on Android, wireless internet, a valid Meta account, and the Meta AI app. Because those published requirements differ, use the live requirements for your exact model and region rather than assuming one page applies to every version. Understand the recording light and privacy controls
Find out what the outward-facing capture indicator signals, how it behaves for photos versus video, and what the manufacturer says happens if it is covered or tampered with. An indicator is a product feature, not a guarantee that recording will be obvious in every setting or that recording is appropriate.
Ray-Ban’s US FAQ says the capture LED faces outward; for a photo, the notification and capture LEDs blink, while they remain solid during video recording. It also says video length can be set to 30 seconds, 60 seconds, or 3 minutes. These descriptions are specific to the product covered by that FAQ. (Ray-Ban US FAQ)
Meta says its glasses activate notification and capture LEDs for photos, video, or streaming, and that features prohibit capture if the light is covered. In a July 2026 article, Meta stated that second-generation glasses automatically disable the camera if they detect the capture LED has been blocked, and said it was updating detection of physical tampering or destruction. These are Meta’s statements about its safeguards; they do not independently establish how noticeable the light is or settle consent questions. (Meta Responsible Innovation; Meta, July 2026)

Meta describes camera-based AI use as involving a wearer prompt, such as asking the glasses to identify a landmark or plant. Meta says voice recordings can be deleted and that deleted recordings will not be used for future training, while noting that model behavior does not change immediately. Smart glasses still need to fit like eyewear. Compare frame dimensions, weight, available sizes, lens options, and adjustment features, ideally using the exact frame measurements rather than relying only on product photos. If you need corrective lenses, confirm that your prescription type and lens choice are available for that specific frame and market, and ask an optical provider about fitting.
The Blayzer Optics Gen 2 listing gives frame weights of 49.2 g for standard and 52 g for large, lists dimensions for two fits, and describes single-vision and progressive prescription options. It also lists clear, blue-violet filter, and Transitions lenses, along with over-extension hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and adjustable temple tips. Confirm current lens availability and suitability with the seller or optician; options can vary. (Meta Store listing)

Before paying, check the warranty duration, what it covers, the return window, and whether the policy is different for prescription lenses or opened products. Terms may vary by seller and market. The cited Meta.com listing states a 12-month manufacturing-defect warranty and a 30-day standard return window for Meta.com orders; do not assume the same terms apply at another retailer or in another region.
