There is a capacity discrepancy worth checking rather than glossing over. CHOICE lists claimed total volume of 326 L, with 228 L for the fridge and 98 L for the freezer, as well as claimed energy use of 323 kWh/year. Smeg’s 2017 sheet gives a 304 L gross total, split into 229 L and 75 L. Those records may use different specifications or measurement bases; do not treat the totals as directly interchangeable or assume either describes usable storage.

How well does it perform?
The available public evidence does not establish how well this model cools or holds temperature. CHOICE confirms a 2020 test but keeps its expert rating and results for food freshness, temperature stability, evenness and range, response to outside temperature, heat-load processing, noise, reliability and satisfaction behind member access. Without those results, a performance verdict would be guesswork.
The 41 dBA figure is Smeg’s published specification, not an independent test score. Likewise, the stated annual energy use is a label figure, not a guarantee of what a particular household will consume: Smeg says actual use and running costs depend on use conditions.

Will it fit your kitchen?
Allow for the listed dimensions of 600 × 1,926 × 720 mm, with depth measured including the handle. Check the physical appliance, not just a cabinet drawing: Smeg says its technical specifications and product sizes may change without notice and that its drawings are indicative. Measure the intended space and the delivery route, and account for the left hinge and door swing when deciding where it can stand.

A later UK FAB32 product page lists different dimensions—1,968 × 601 × 728 mm—and describes No-Frost and Multiflow. That is a different-market, later version, not the NA1 specification; use the code on the actual appliance when checking fit or comparing models. Smeg UK’s later FAB32 page should not be used to overwrite the Australian NA1 figures.

What to check before buying one
- Exact model: Confirm the rating plate says FAB32LSVNA1. Similar FAB32 codes can refer to other colours, hinges, markets or generations.
- Condition and age: For a used or old-stock appliance, ask for its age, operating history and a demonstration that both compartments work. Inspect drawers, shelves, seals and included accessories; the spec sheet does not establish replacement-part availability.
- Capacity and layout: Compare the actual usable space and shelf arrangement with your needs. The published gross figures differ between Smeg’s sheet and CHOICE’s listing.
- Installation: Re-measure width, height, handle depth, hinge clearance, door swing and the route from delivery point to kitchen.
- Energy comparison: Use the Australian 323 kWh/year and 3.5-star figures only as the NA1’s published label values. Do not compare its older Australian star rating directly with a newer European energy-label class.
- Support and terms: CHOICE marks the model discontinued. Verify the seller, any warranty that applies to the specific unit, local service support and parts availability before committing.
- Included parts: Check that the ice box and other expected accessories are present; the specification does not confirm current replacement stock.
Verdict
The FAB32LSVNA1’s published specifications make its size, layout and Australian energy figures clear, but they do not establish how well it performed in CHOICE’s test. Because the model is listed as discontinued, it is best assessed as a specific used or remaining-stock appliance: buy only after confirming the exact code, physical fit, condition and support available for that unit.
