Most Starlink Standard owners can start with the detachable kickstand included in the kit. If you need to attach the dish to a pole, Starlink’s Standard Pipe Adapter Mount is the clearest official option—but it fits only specified kits and metal poles measuring 31–63.5 mm (1.25–2.5 inches) in diameter. Check your dish model and measure the pole before buying.
Do you need an extra mount?
Not necessarily. Starlink says every Starlink kit includes a mounting solution, and the Standard kit’s detachable kickstand can be used for quick setup or permanent installation. If that arrangement suits your location, an additional mount may not be needed. Starlink also offers additional mount options through its shop. Starlink’s mounting guidance notes that accessories are kit-specific.

Choose by dish model, surface, and pole
Before selecting a mount, identify the exact Starlink kit and decide where it will sit: on a roof, wall, or existing pole. If you plan to use a pole, check that it is metal and measure its outside diameter. Also determine whether you are making a new installation or adapting an existing mount. A mount that looks as though it fits is not proof of compatibility.

When the Standard Pipe Adapter Mount makes sense
If your installation calls for a pole, the Standard Pipe Adapter Mount is the official choice described for Standard and Enterprise. Measure the metal pole before ordering: the supported diameter range is 31 mm (1.25 inches) minimum to 63.5 mm (2.5 inches) maximum. The pole itself is not part of the mount package. When to use the legacy mount adapter
The Standard to Standard Actuated Mount Adapter addresses a narrower case: you already own one of the specified mounts for an older Standard Actuated dish and want to reuse it with the newer Standard dish. Starlink lists Short Wall, Long Wall, Pivot, Ground Pole, and Ridgeline mounts as compatible legacy options. If you are starting from scratch, Starlink says to choose a mount designed for the Standard kit instead. The installation guide shows the adapter fitted to a compatible mast and existing mount.
Check compatibility before buying
- Confirm the exact dish or kit model. Starlink says mounts for Standard 4, Standard 4 X, and Enterprise are not compatible with other kits; do not assume an accessory listed for one kit will fit another. Starlink mounting guidance.
- For the pipe adapter, measure the metal pole’s diameter and confirm it falls within 31–63.5 mm (1.25–2.5 inches). The pipe is not included. Standard Accessories Guide.
- If reusing an older mount, verify that it is one of the five types Starlink lists for the Standard to Standard Actuated Mount Adapter; appearance alone is not enough. Standard Accessories Guide.
- For third-party hardware, verify fit and installation details with its maker. Starlink says it cannot guarantee compatibility or performance for non-Starlink mounts. Starlink’s third-party mount guidance.
Third-party mounts and metal placement
Starlink permits third-party mounting solutions but warns that it cannot guarantee their compatibility or performance. Its guidance also says not to use metal that wraps around the terminal’s base enclosure or to place the terminal directly on metal; metal near the GPS chip may affect GPS performance. Follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions and avoid those placements. Read Starlink’s guidance on third-party mounts.
