What the Wrestling Belt Relic Does in BO7 Zombies and When to Activate It

The Wrestling Belt—also called the Wrestler’s Belt or Championship Belt in current player guides—is a Grim-tier Cursed Mode Relic on Totenreich in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies. When equipped before a Cursed match, it randomizes weapon wall buys at the start of every round. You gain a changing wall-weapon pool, but lose the certainty of a fixed purchase route. Activate it when you are prepared to adapt; leave it off when your opening strategy depends on a specific wall weapon.

What the Wrestling Belt does

The belt changes only the weapon wall-buy system. At each round transition, the available wall-buy weapons are randomized, so a weapon you planned to purchase may no longer be at its usual location or may be replaced by another weapon in the pool. The modifier applies for the entire Cursed Mode match after you select the relic during setup.

This is not a direct damage, health, perk, equipment, or enemy modifier. Its difficulty comes from route uncertainty: you must decide whether to spend Essence on whatever appears, use a Mystery Box, rely on your loadout, or alter your path to reach the next useful wall buy.

Activision describes Relics generally as optional challenges that trade greater difficulty for new levels of power, replayability, and rewards. The Wrestling Belt is therefore best understood as a replayability modifier rather than a conventional weapon upgrade. Its current classification is Grim tier, and its effect text is summarized in current guides as “Weapon Wallbuys randomize each round.”

What changes during a round

  • Wall-buy weapons are reshuffled when a new round begins.
  • Your planned weapon route can become unusable after the transition.
  • Mystery Box weapons, loadout weapons, Pack-a-Punch upgrades, perks, and equipment are not described as being randomized by this relic.
  • The modifier remains active for the match; it is not a switch you can turn off halfway through a run.

What does not change

The belt does not remove the normal need to buy ammunition, manage Essence, complete objectives, or survive the map. It also does not make every wall weapon appear simultaneously. The point is a changing set of wall-buy options, not unlimited access to every gun.

How to unlock the Wrestling Belt on Totenreich

The unlock is an account-and-quest progression task followed by a four-wave relic trial. You must complete the map’s main Easter Egg on your account before the Cursed Mode steps become available. A current COD Central guide, updated in October 2026, describes 18 required counters and 900 total kills: 50 kills with each of 17 wall-buy weapons, plus 50 kills with the Jotunn Star.

Prerequisites

  • The main Totenreich Easter Egg must already be completed on the account.
  • You must enter Totenreich in Cursed Mode.
  • You need access to the Jotunn Star quest and its lighthouse stage.
  • Plan enough Essence for the final relic trial, because the trial takes weapons away after every wave.

Step 1: Start the Jotunn Star quest

Progress the Jotunn Star quest until you reach the lighthouse. Do not take the wonder weapon immediately when you arrive. The timing of the next pickup determines whether your wall-buy kills are credited.

Step 2: Collect the Mr. Peeks magazine first

On the box beside the Jotunn Star, pick up the Mr. Peeks magazine before taking the wonder weapon. This magazine is the flag that enables the counted-kill portion of the unlock. Kills made before the magazine is in your inventory do not satisfy the belt’s counters, so collecting it late means repeating those kills.

Step 3: Buy every wall-buy weapon and earn the 17 weapon counters

After the magazine is secured, purchase each of the 17 wall-buy weapons and record 50 kills with each one. The requirement is per weapon, not 50 kills spread across the entire wall-buy pool. If you switch weapons before reaching 50, the partial progress remains associated with that weapon, but you still need to finish its individual counter.

Three of the wall weapons are hidden in secret rooms reached by exiting Tyr’s Head:

  • M34 Novaline
  • AK-27
  • Dravec-45

Include those three in your route. A run that completes the visible wall buys but never reaches the Tyr’s Head rooms is short of the 17-weapon requirement.

Step 4: Earn 50 Jotunn Star kills

Use the Jotunn Star to earn 50 additional kills after the magazine requirement is active. These kills are a separate counter from the 17 wall-buy weapons. The complete arithmetic is 17 weapons × 50 kills (850) plus 50 Jotunn Star kills, for 900 kills total.

Step 5: Enter the relic portal

Once all 18 counters are complete, a relic portal appears in Eidskallen Square near the Arsenal. Enter that portal to begin the belt’s trial. If it has not appeared, check the magazine timing, the three Tyr’s Head weapons, and the Jotunn Star counter before assuming the quest is broken.

Step 6: Survive the four-wave trial

The trial consists of four waves. At the end of each wave, the trial removes your weapons. You must then buy or otherwise obtain replacements before continuing, which is why an Essence reserve matters more here than in the kill-grinding phase.

  1. Enter with a reliable primary weapon, a backup option, and enough Essence for replacement purchases.
  2. Complete wave one and note which weapons are removed.
  3. Replace lost weapons before wave two starts; do not assume your original loadout will return.
  4. Repeat the process after waves two and three.
  5. Finish wave four to complete the relic trial and unlock the Wrestling Belt.

The four-wave structure makes the final test a resource check as well as a combat check. Arriving with only the minimum Essence for one purchase can leave you unable to recover after a weapon removal.

Do wall-buy kills count before the Mr. Peeks magazine?

No. The magazine must be in your inventory before kills are counted toward this unlock. The safest order is to reach the lighthouse, pick up the Mr. Peeks magazine from the box beside the Jotunn Star, and only then begin buying wall weapons and farming kills. Earlier kills may still help your normal match progression, but they should not be treated as progress toward the belt’s 17 weapon counters.

Where is the Wrestling Belt portal?

The portal appears in Eidskallen Square, near the Arsenal, after the magazine, all 17 wall-buy counters, and the 50 Jotunn Star kills are complete. It is not the box beside the Jotunn Star and it is not inside the Tyr’s Head secret rooms. Those locations are used during the requirements; Eidskallen Square is where you enter the separate relic trial.

How to activate the relic

Unlocking the belt and activating it are separate actions. After the trial, open the Totenreich Cursed Mode setup and select the Wrestling Belt in the relic-selection screen before launching the match. The modifier is applied to that match from the start; there is no mid-game activation step.

  1. Choose Totenreich in the Zombies map selection.
  2. Switch to Cursed Mode.
  3. Open the relic-selection screen.
  4. Select the unlocked Wrestling Belt.
  5. Launch the match and expect wall-buy weapons to randomize at each round transition.

If you launch without selecting the belt, the unlock remains on your account but its wall-buy modifier is not active in that run.

When you should activate it

Activate it for an adaptation-focused Cursed run

The belt is a good choice when the goal is to experience a variable route rather than execute a fixed opening. It creates a different purchasing puzzle each round and rewards players who can switch weapons, change paths, and preserve Essence for uncertain options.

  • You deliberately want the belt’s wall-buy shuffle.
  • You are comfortable combining loadout weapons, the Mystery Box, and whichever wall weapon appears next.
  • You are building Cursed Mode Relic progress or pursuing mode rewards.
  • Your squad communicates purchases and can regroup when a route changes.

Skip it for a rehearsed weapon route

Leave the belt unequipped when your plan depends on buying one specific weapon in the opening rounds, reaching a fixed wall-buy location on a timer, or saving Essence for a tightly sequenced upgrade path. The randomization can invalidate that route at the next round transition, forcing an expensive detour or a weaker temporary weapon.

  • You are learning Totenreich’s layout or objective order.
  • You need a known wall weapon for an early challenge or damage breakpoint.
  • Your squad has just enough Essence for planned purchases and little recovery money.
  • You are attempting a low-risk completion rather than a self-imposed challenge.

Planning weapons and Essence with the belt equipped

Carry a fallback instead of one perfect gun

Because a wall weapon can disappear from its expected location after a round change, start with a loadout weapon that remains available independently of wall-buy randomization. Treat wall buys as opportunities, not guarantees.

Keep an Essence reserve

The reserve has two purposes: adapting to a newly randomized weapon pool and replacing weapons during the four-wave unlock trial. Spending every point on the first attractive wall weapon can leave you unable to buy ammunition or a replacement when the next transition changes the pool.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Decide before the round ends

Use the downtime before a transition to check ammunition, identify the nearest viable purchase, and tell teammates who is carrying which role. The belt rewards a short plan for several possible weapons rather than a single exact route.

Use the Mystery Box deliberately

The Mystery Box can reduce dependence on a particular wall-buy location, but it also adds its own randomness and Essence cost. Use it as a fallback when the new wall pool does not cover your role, not as proof that the belt’s modifier can be bypassed.

Unlock requirements at a glance

Requirement What to do Important qualification
Account prerequisite Complete Totenreich’s main Easter Egg. Required before entering the Cursed Mode unlock sequence.
Quest location Progress Jotunn Star to the lighthouse. Do not take the wonder weapon before collecting the magazine.
Activation item Pick up the Mr. Peeks magazine. It must be collected before counted kills.
Wall-buy counters Earn 50 kills with each of 17 wall-buy weapons. Includes M34 Novaline, AK-27, and Dravec-45 in Tyr’s Head secret rooms.
Wonder-weapon counter Earn 50 Jotunn Star kills. Separate from the 17 wall-weapon counters.
Total reported workload 18 counters and 900 kills. Guide-reported figure from COD Central, 2026; not an official Activision statistic.
Final trial Enter the portal near the Arsenal and survive four waves. Weapons are removed after every wave; bring enough Essence for replacements.

How the belt compares with other Relic choices

Relics impose different challenge types. The useful comparison is not which one is universally strongest, but how much each modifier interferes with the plan you are trying to execute.

Comparison axis Wrestling Belt Other Relic categories
Modifier type Weapon wall buys randomize each round. May affect equipment, perks, health, enemies, or another system, depending on the relic.
Tier Grim tier. Tier varies by relic.
Unlock workload 17 wall weapons at 50 kills each, 50 Jotunn Star kills, then a four-wave trial. Workload varies; do not assume another relic uses the same counters.
Route disruption High for players relying on fixed wall-buy locations or one planned gun. Depends on whether the modifier affects movement, survivability, resources, or equipment.

Choose the belt when weapon access is the uncertainty you want. Choose another relic when your build cannot tolerate a changing wall-buy route.

Troubleshooting common unlock problems

The portal does not appear

  • Confirm the main Totenreich Easter Egg was completed on the same account.
  • Verify that the Mr. Peeks magazine was collected before the kill grind.
  • Check every one of the 17 wall-buy weapons, including the three Tyr’s Head secret-room weapons.
  • Confirm that the Jotunn Star counter reached 50, not merely that the wonder weapon was picked up.
  • Return to Eidskallen Square and check beside the Arsenal after the final counter registers.

My kills are not progressing

Recheck the weapon currently equipped and the timing of the magazine pickup. The requirement is 50 kills per named wall weapon, so kills made with a different gun do not complete the active weapon’s counter. Kills before the magazine should be repeated after the pickup.

I failed the relic trial because my weapons disappeared

Weapon removal after each wave is part of the trial, not an equipment bug described by the unlock requirements. Restart with a larger Essence reserve and a purchase plan for each transition. Entering with one expensive weapon and no replacement funds is the most avoidable failure case.

Bottom line for activation timing

Activate the Wrestling Belt from the Cursed Mode relic-selection screen when you want a deliberately unpredictable Totenreich run and can fund weapon changes. Do not activate it for a fixed-route learning run or a tightly budgeted opening. Unlock progress requires the Mr. Peeks magazine first, 50 kills with all 17 wall-buy weapons, 50 Jotunn Star kills, and completion of the four-wave portal trial near the Arsenal.
