First identify the speaker, then the specific indicator, its color and blink pattern, and what the speaker is doing—such as charging, pairing, connecting, or updating. The same color can mean different things on different lights and models.
Identify the speaker and the light first
Find the model name on the speaker, in the Bose app, or in its owner’s guide. Then determine whether the blinking light is the power or battery indicator, Bluetooth indicator, Wi-Fi indicator, AUX indicator, or a general status light. Use that model’s official indicator table rather than applying a color-only rule.

SoundLink Revolve and Revolve+
The power/battery indicator and Bluetooth indicator report different states. While charging, a flashing amber power light means charging, green means fully charged, and fast-flashing red indicates a battery error. When checking battery level, green, amber, and red represent different remaining-charge bands. The Bluetooth light is off when Bluetooth is not selected, flashes blue when the speaker is discoverable, flashes white rapidly while connecting, and stays solid white when connected. Blue also appears during initial language selection, while AUX is indicated by white when selected. See Bose’s SoundLink Revolve indicator guide.

SoundLink Color
The battery indicator’s blinking red means the battery is low and should be charged. The separate Bluetooth indicator blinks blue when ready to pair, blinks white while connecting, and remains solid white once connected. See Bose’s SoundLink Color guide.

The Lifestyle Ultra uses a single status light for several types of activity, including setup, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, updates or restoration, source selection, and errors. Slowly pulsing white indicates that the speaker is powering on. Fast-blinking amber means the Wi-Fi connection was lost; fast-blinking red indicates an error, and Bose advises contacting customer service. Some Alexa indications also use colors, so identify the status light and operating context before interpreting it. See the Lifestyle Ultra status-light guide.

What to do when the light signals a problem
- Check the model’s official light table. Match the indicator, color, blink speed, and current activity to the instructions for that exact speaker.
- If the issue is Bluetooth, make sure Bluetooth is selected on the speaker, Bluetooth is enabled on the phone or computer, and the devices are close enough to connect. Check the source device’s Bluetooth settings to see whether the speaker is connected. If it will not connect, Bose recommends restarting the speaker and source device, then removing the pairing and pairing again. Follow Bose’s Bluetooth troubleshooting guidance for the relevant model.
- If the issue is charging, inspect the power connection and follow the model’s charging instructions. If the speaker has gotten wet, Bose says to let it dry completely before charging.
- If the speaker is connected but silent, check volume on the speaker, connected device, and app. Confirm the right source or device is active, then try another app or source to narrow down the problem.
- Use only the reset steps for your model. For SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen), holding Bluetooth for 15 seconds clears the paired-device list; that is not the same as a factory reset. Bose provides a separate factory-reset procedure. Consult its SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen) repair and reset instructions before resetting.
- Contact Bose Support if the model’s guide identifies an error or the light remains after you have followed the documented steps. The Bose Support site can direct you to model-specific help.
Why a color alone is not enough
A blue Bluetooth light can indicate pairing readiness on several SoundLink guides, but a battery light or multi-purpose status light follows its own table. Even within one model, blinking and solid versions of the same color can indicate different connection states. Interpret the complete pattern—indicator identity, color, speed, and context—not just the color.
