Pumpkaboo
Pumpkaboo is the event’s initiating Pokémon. Once you complete the interaction that lets you befriend it, the Pokémon is not described as a temporary visitor. It remains in the town after the event closes, so finishing the event does not remove the companion or reset the relationship.

Gourgeist
Gourgeist is obtained through the event’s habitat requirement rather than simply appearing as another candy purchase. You attract it by constructing the Halloween habitat from the event furnishings and then complete the befriending step. After that, Gourgeist also remains in the town when the limited-time period ends.
This makes the two Pokémon the highest-priority rewards if your main goal is to expand the town’s resident roster. The habitat is a prerequisite for attracting Gourgeist, while Pumpkaboo is the event’s starting encounter; neither Pokémon is described as expiring with the seasonal exchange.
Halloween furniture and habitats are persistent objects
Pumpkin Candy can be exchanged at a Pokémon Center for event furnishings. Those furnishings are not rental decorations: after purchase, they become objects in your in-game inventory and can be used to build the Halloween habitat. A habitat you construct from them is likewise treated as part of your town rather than a temporary event screen.

The persistence claim applies to event furnishings you actually buy or build, regardless of which total a guide uses.
What “keep” means for furniture
Keeping a furnishing means it remains available as a town object after the event. You can leave it placed, rearrange it, or use it in the habitat that attracted Gourgeist. The sources do not state that these objects disappear, convert into ordinary furniture, or become unusable once the event closes.
The Trick or Treat frame is a completion reward
The Trick or Treat camera frame is awarded for buying every listed event item. It is separate from the Pokémon and the habitat: you do not receive it merely for meeting Pumpkaboo, and attracting Gourgeist alone is not described as sufficient. The trigger is completion of the event-item shopping list.

Because the guides disagree about whether the complete catalog contains nine or ten items, check the exchange counter in your own game and continue until no listed event item remains available for purchase. That is safer than relying on a guide’s item total. Once the full list is bought, the frame is described as a completion cosmetic rather than a temporary Pumpkin Candy benefit, so it should remain available after the event window.

Pumpkin Candy collection
The seasonal loop uses the Camouflage move to disguise yourself as an object. When nearby Pokémon are surprised by the disguise, you earn Pumpkin Candy. This earning activity is part of the limited-time event, not a permanent town feature. After the event closes, you should not expect the same Camouflage-based candy encounters to continue.
The Pokémon Center exchange window
Pumpkin Candy is spent at a Pokémon Center on the Halloween furnishings. The exchange service is also tied to the event period. The available guides do not explicitly document what happens to an unspent candy balance after the window closes: they do not confirm automatic conversion, deletion, or permanent storage. Consequently, the reliable advice is to spend the candy before the deadline rather than plan around carryover.

The deadline
The published event window runs from October 17, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. through November 1, 2026, at 4:59 a.m., using your local time zone. The timing is reported by Dexerto’s event guide. Treat 4:59 a.m. on November 1 as the cutoff, not the beginning of November 1: waiting until later that day risks losing access to candy collection and exchanges.
Requirements before you start
Guides say the event requires a rebuilt Pokémon Center. If the center has not been rebuilt in your save, complete that town requirement before looking for the exchange menu. The candy loop also depends on Camouflage, so make sure your character can use that move. Without the center, you may be unable to spend candy; without Camouflage, you may be unable to use the event’s primary earning method.

How to prioritize rewards before November 1
- Secure the Pokémon encounters first. Befriend Pumpkaboo, then work toward the habitat needed for Gourgeist. These are the only rewards in the event that expand your town’s Pokémon residents.
- Reserve enough candy for the Gourgeist habitat. Do not spend your entire balance on optional decorations before obtaining the furnishings required for the habitat construction.
- Purchase the remaining event furnishings. Once the habitat requirement is covered, buy the other objects you want to keep. Their value is permanent town customization, not a temporary event boost.
- Finish the complete item list for the frame. Use the in-game exchange list as the authority for what remains, since guide totals conflict. Continue until every listed event item has been purchased.
- Empty your candy balance. Spend any remaining Pumpkin Candy before 4:59 a.m. local time on November 1. The post-event treatment of unused candy is undocumented, so there is no supported reason to save it.
Practical checks after you finish
Check the town roster
After befriending each Pokémon, look for Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist among the town’s residents or active Pokémon. Their continued presence is the clearest confirmation that the permanent unlock was recorded. If Gourgeist is missing, verify that the Halloween habitat was actually constructed and that the befriending sequence completed rather than ending after furniture placement.
Check furniture inventory and placement
Open the town’s furnishing or placement interface and confirm that purchased objects can be selected like other town decorations. A placed lantern, statue or habitat component should remain available when you leave and return to the area. The guides do not describe a separate “claim” button for persistence; buying the object through the event exchange is the relevant acquisition step.
Check the camera-frame selection
If the Trick or Treat frame does not appear immediately, recheck the event exchange list for an item you skipped. The condition is buying every listed event item, not merely earning a certain amount of candy or befriending both Pokémon. Because the published item totals conflict, use the actual list shown by your game rather than counting names from an external guide.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Assuming candy is a permanent currency: Pumpkin Candy exists for this event’s activity and exchange. Its unused-balance behavior after the deadline is not established, so do not defer spending.
- Stopping after Pumpkaboo: Pumpkaboo is the initiating encounter, but Gourgeist requires the Halloween habitat. If you want both Pokémon, complete the construction step.
