For the clearest story and character progression, play the main Uncharted games in release order: Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves, Drake’s Deception, A Thief’s End, then The Lost Legacy. The games can be enjoyed on their own, but this order gives you the most context for returning characters and relationships.
Recommended Uncharted game order
- Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune — Nathan Drake’s first adventure follows a clue connected to Sir Francis Drake and the search for El Dorado.
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves — Nathan pursues Marco Polo’s lost fleet and the legend of Shambhala.
- Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception — Nathan and his mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan search for Ubar, also known as the “Atlantis of the Sands.”
- Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End — Nathan returns to adventure when his brother Sam reappears; the story involves pirate Henry Avery’s lost treasure and Nathan’s past.
- Uncharted: The Lost Legacy — This standalone adventure puts Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross in the lead, on a journey through India’s Western Ghats. It follows Uncharted 4 in release order.

Can you start with Uncharted 4 or The Lost Legacy?
Yes. PlayStation’s Legacy of Thieves Collection FAQ says each game is designed to stand on its own, even though the series has a general evolving storyline. Starting with A Thief’s End or The Lost Legacy is a reasonable choice if you want to jump into a later game; you will simply have less background on characters and their relationships.
