It is set four years after Judgment Day and centers on exploring a Skynet-ravaged world, surviving its machines, and helping the Resistance take shape. Its plans have changed: the developers now describe it as single-player, with no Early Access launch and no confirmed release date.
What is Terminator: Survivors?
Terminator: Survivors is an open-world survival game developed by Nacon Studio Milan and published by Nacon. The current Steam listing describes a single-player game in which you explore, investigate, fight or evade threats, and build a home base in the aftermath of Judgment Day.

Where and when is the story set?
The game begins four years after the day humanity nearly disappeared. Your character emerges from a shelter into a landscape devastated by Skynet and tries to help re-establish society. The story involves investigating the nuclear apocalypse and the machines behind it, encountering early Skynet prototypes, and helping the Resistance rise.

The T-800 is presented as a persistent, lethal danger. The store description warns that staying in one place too long could be fatal, suggesting that survival depends on movement and caution as well as combat.
Nacon’s February 29, 2024 announcement described the story as taking place after the first two Terminator films. In a December 16, 2025 developer update, creative director Marco Ponte said the team wanted to tell the beginning of the Resistance through the player’s perspective, in a new timeline intended to feel like a natural extension of the first two films’ lore. That is the studio’s creative aim, not a definitive resolution of every continuity question.

Explore and investigate
The announced gameplay loop starts with exploring the open world and investigating what happened. You encounter Skynet machines as well as human scavengers, and must decide when to engage and when to avoid danger.

Fight or stay out of sight
The current store description says players can use close- and ranged-combat options, but stealth and caution are also viable approaches. It does not establish a final, exhaustive list of weapons or confirm that every feature discussed during development will appear in the released game.

A June 27, 2024 developer update discussed travelling on foot or by vehicle, Skynet patrols and points of interest, and weapons such as sniper rifles, shotguns, pistols, light machine guns, makeshift explosives, and specialized technology. Those are details from an earlier update; treat them as development direction rather than a guarantee of the final feature set.
Build a foothold for humanity
The Steam description also presents developing a home base as part of the survival loop: it is a new foothold for humanity while you help the Resistance emerge. The available description does not spell out the base-building systems in detail.

Is Terminator: Survivors co-op?
No. The development direction announced on December 16, 2025 is single-player. Creative director Marco Ponte said that, after internal testing and discussions with players and fans, the team decided to put cooperative multiplayer aside to focus on the shooting and exploration experience it wanted. Steam also lists single-player as a feature.
This replaces the earlier plan for solo and cooperative play; co-op should not be treated as a currently announced feature.
When is Terminator: Survivors coming out?
There is no confirmed release date. Nacon originally announced a Steam Early Access launch for October 24, 2024, then moved the launch to 2025 in an August 12, 2024 update. On December 16, 2025, the developers said the game would not launch that year, abandoned the Early Access plan in favor of a complete and polished first release, and said they had no new date locked in. Steam currently says “To be announced” and shows the game as not yet available.
Which platforms are listed?
Nacon’s product page lists PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox versions, with physical and digital selectors. Those listings do not confirm that the game is currently available to buy or preorder. Check the relevant platform store or retailer for current availability.
