Noematica: Digital Dollhouse is an upcoming urban life simulation from Asphodel Cybernetics, planned for release in 2027. Its announced design pairs autonomous characters whose abilities are shaped by memories with an unusual, surreal dollhouse-like city. The developers also say they will never charge for DLC—but that is a forward-looking promise, not a policy that can yet be assessed in a released game.
What is Noematica?
The official Steam listing describes Noematica as an urban life simulation and digital dollhouse. Players are meant to create and customize “Noems,” characters with autonomous behavior, memories, fantasies and physical needs.

Rather than giving each character a single abstract skill score, the announced design ties competence to remembered experiences and circumstances. The wider simulation is intended to cover customizable homes and neighborhoods, social relationships, public health, public works and politics between groups. These are developer descriptions of planned systems; there is no released build to demonstrate how they work in practice.
Is Noematica like The Sims?
The comparison is useful as a shorthand: both games are presented as life simulations involving characters, homes and social lives. But Noematica’s official framing emphasizes an urban dollhouse and a more surreal, “n-dimensional” premise, with character competence shaped by memory. The Sims comparison comes from the surrounding announcement coverage, rather than an official claim that Noematica shares that series’ format or mechanics.

When does Noematica come out?
Steam lists Noematica as planned for 2027 and says it is not yet available. The listing does not give an exact launch date or price. It also has no user reviews, so there is no released-game review consensus to consult. The release window and product details could change before launch.
Will Noematica have paid DLC?
The developers’ Steam description states: “Listen: Noematica will NEVER charge you for DLC.” They describe their intended approach as releasing one complete game at full price, then supporting in-game tools and community-made modifications. They also say they want assets to be interoperable and core engine changes to be backported to previous Noematica projects where technically possible.

- New stages and fighters are joined by the combined rosters of every past Super Smash Bros. Game
- Challenge others anytime, anywhere, whether you're on the couch or on the go
- Play any way you want—locally, online, in TV mode, Tabletop mode, Handheld mode, or even with GameCube Controllers
- Fight faster and smarter with new and returning techniques, like the perfect shield and directional air dodge
- Face off in 2-4 player battles, or play against the computer
That is a clear statement of intent, but it is not yet a track record: the game has not been released, so its final scope and the long-term delivery of that content policy cannot be evaluated. The same description says, “A game with ten expansions is invariably very muddled.” That is the developers’ opinion about expansion-heavy games, not an independently established rule about how DLC affects games.
