You can send separate outputs from your streaming setup to each platform, or send one feed to a cloud relay that distributes it for you. The right method depends on platform rules, supported destinations, your connection and encoding setup, and how you want to manage chat.
What multistreaming means
Twitch Help defines it as broadcasting the same stream to multiple platforms at once; YouTube uses the term “simulstreaming” for going live with the same content on multiple platforms simultaneously. The names differ, but the basic idea is the same: one live program is available on more than one service at the same time.

That does not mean every destination receives an identical experience automatically. Each platform has its own account requirements, stream settings, policies, and viewer tools. Before going live, check that your planned workflow is allowed on every destination.

Multistreaming lets viewers watch on a platform they already use, rather than requiring everyone to gather in one place. YouTube presents cross-platform streaming as a way to reach viewers where they prefer to watch. It may also reduce the work of starting and distributing a single program to several services.

When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
It does not guarantee more viewers, engagement, or revenue. Audience response depends on the content, existing communities, discoverability, and how well you can interact across destinations. A larger set of destinations can also mean more moderation and chat-management work.

Send separate outputs from your encoder
In this approach, your streaming setup sends an output to each platform. It can give you direct control over destination-specific settings, but the setup and resource requirements depend on the encoder, configuration, and services involved. The sources cited here do not establish a universal OBS configuration or quantify the extra upload or computer requirements, so check current documentation for your specific tools rather than assuming one set of settings fits every setup.

Send one feed through a cloud relay
A cloud relay accepts one incoming stream from your encoder and forwards it to the destinations you select. This can simplify distribution, but it adds reliance on the relay provider, its supported destinations, plan limits, and current service behavior.
Restream documents an OBS workflow in which you connect destination channels to a Restream account, connect the account in OBS or enter a Restream stream key, confirm the chosen channels, and start streaming from OBS. Restream describes centralized chat and aggregated analytics as product features; availability and limits can depend on its current offering. See its OBS multistreaming guide and Twitch and YouTube example.

How to multistream with OBS through Restream
This is a cloud-relay example based on Restream’s published instructions, not a claim that every service or OBS setup uses the same steps. Labels and account options can change, so follow the current instructions shown in your Restream and OBS accounts.
- Create or sign in to Restream. Connect the destination channels you intend to use and make sure each account is eligible to go live.
- Connect OBS to Restream. In OBS, select Restream as the streaming service if that option is available, or enter the Restream stream key. Restream also documents connecting an account as an option.
- Check the destinations. In Restream, confirm that the intended channels are selected before you start. For a two-platform Twitch and YouTube setup, use the current integration instructions.
- Start the broadcast from OBS. Check each destination’s live page or dashboard to confirm that the stream arrived and is displaying as expected.
Preflight checks before you go live
- Confirm eligibility on every platform. YouTube says the channel must be verified and live streaming enabled. Other destination accounts should be active and in good standing, and their own requirements may differ.
- Allow time for YouTube activation. YouTube says enabling a first live stream can take at least 24 hours after the first request. Check the channel’s status before planning a broadcast around it.
- Collect credentials where needed. Depending on the encoder and workflow, you may need a stream key or an RTMP server URL for a destination. Use the account-integration option if your chosen service supports it.
- Check upload capacity against your actual settings. YouTube warns that sufficient upload speed is critical for high-quality simulstreaming. The required capacity depends on the stream configuration and distribution method; no universal numeric target is established here. Check current platform and encoder guidance for the settings you choose.
- Review rules and agreements. Check each platform’s current policies and any exclusivity agreement before distributing the same program elsewhere.
- Test appropriately. Run a private or otherwise suitable test event and verify that every intended destination receives the stream before a public broadcast.
YouTube’s current guidance is in Stream across platforms. Requirements can change, so confirm them with each destination when you set up.

Pay particular attention to Twitch’s simulcasting rules
Twitch’s Simulcasting Guidelines apply unless you have an agreement requiring exclusivity. Twitch says simulcasting must not degrade the Twitch viewing experience compared with other services; its FAQ gives shrinking the Twitch video or otherwise making its quality worse as an example. It also says Twitch may not be used to drive users to a live stream on another service. Read the current guidance for the full terms and apply it to your specific arrangement.

Do not confuse multistreaming with Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting. Enhanced Broadcasting supports multiple client-side encodes and is associated with Dual Format and 2K streaming; that is distinct from sending the same live program to multiple independent platforms. Compare services on the details that affect your setup
There is no universal best workflow: the relevant choice depends on what you need to send, where it must go, and how you will operate the broadcast.
| What to compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Destinations and custom RTMP | Check that every required platform is supported and whether you can add a custom RTMP destination. |
| Distribution method | Determine whether the service relays one incoming feed or your encoder sends separate outputs. |
| Setup and account connection | Find out whether you connect platform accounts, enter stream keys, or configure RTMP URLs. |
| Upload and encoding requirements | Requirements vary with stream settings and workflow. Use current technical documentation for your configuration; do not infer a bandwidth or hardware target from another setup. |
| Chat, analytics, and moderation | Check whether chat is combined, what analytics are available, and how you will monitor and moderate each community. |
| Channel limits, plan features, and price | Confirm current limits and included features directly with the provider. They can change over time. |

Or let it run in the cloud
For multistreaming, check that any service you choose supports the destinations you need. StreamNeo is a separate option for keeping a YouTube channel live 24/7 from uploaded videos; it does not distribute a live OBS program to multiple platforms. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps it running, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It streams uploaded video—not a live camera feed—and supports any quality up to 4K 60fps as uploaded, at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free day.
