A network control center (NCC) is a centralized facility or operational function that monitors and manages a communications or computer network. It helps operators detect faults, coordinate troubleshooting, and oversee network changes. The term is closely related to network operations center (NOC), although organizations may use the labels and divide responsibilities differently.
What does a network control center do?
An NCC gives network operators a coordinated place or function for observing managed resources and responding when service or equipment has a problem. Its work can include:

- Monitoring network systems and communications services.
- Identifying faults and coordinating diagnosis or repair.
- Overseeing configuration changes and, in some organizations, security management.
- Organizing operational response among technicians, administrators, help-desk staff, and managers.
A U.S. government architecture publication describes configuration, fault, and security management as activities usually overseen by a center in its model. It notes that accounting and performance analysis may belong to other departments or groups instead. Those are examples of one organizational approach, not a required staffing plan for every modern network.
Is an NCC the same as a NOC?
Often, the terms refer to closely related centralized network-operations functions, but there is no universal boundary that every organization follows. MIL-STD-188-154A describes a centralized monitoring and control facility and says: “These facilities are commonly referred to as a Network Operations Center (NOC), Network Control Center (NCC), or Remote Management Center (RMC).” The standard also advises readers to verify the current version before relying on it as active guidance.

- Save valuable floor space: 6U wall mount server cabinet Dimensions: 13.78" H x21.65" W x17.72" D.Maximum mounting depth is 14.2"
- Keep critical network equipment secure: glass door and side panels are lockable to prevent unauthorized access. Front door can be installed on either side of the front of the cabinet to satisfy your door swing orientation preference
- Easy equipment configuration: Fully adjustable mounting rails and numbered U positions, with square holes for easy equipment mounting with top and bottom punch-out panels for easy cable access
- Durability: Made of high quality cold rolled steel holds up to 110lb (50kg) (Easy Assembly Required)
- PCI & HIPPA and EIA/ECA-310-E compliant
NIST’s glossary gives a concise cross-reference: “Network Control Center: See Network Operations Center.” That supports the close relationship between the terms, not a rule that every company, telecom operator, or government unit must name or organize the function in the same way.
What is the difference between an NCC and network management?
Network management is the broader discipline of monitoring and controlling a managed network to support its operation and integrity and provide communications services efficiently. An NCC is the operational facility or function where people and systems may coordinate some of that work. The definition does not require a particular branded product, room layout, or physical setup.

- Space Saving: Maximum depth: 14.8". Use the wall mount network cabinet to maximize available space for retail locations, classrooms, back offices, network cabinets, and other locations where space is limited.
- Fast Heat Dissipation: The server cabinet is designed with vents to optimize airflow and avoid critical IT equipment overheating. Heat sink holes in the top, bottom, and rear panels are more conducive to heat dissipation.
- Sturdy Construction: Robust welded frame construction for durability and long service life. With 100 lbs wall-mounted load capacity and 200 lbs ground-mounted load capacity, you can place multiple devices in the server rack cabinet as needed.
- High Security: The locked glass door ensures the security of data and equipment. Wall mount rack enclosure server cabinet is ideal for use in public places such as offices, effectively protecting the security of your devices.
- Hassle-free Installation: Fully adjustable square-hole mounting rails of the wall mount server cabinet facilitate device installation. Wiring holes on the top, bottom, and rear panels provide you with easy cable routing.
Who works in a network control center?
Staffing depends on the organization and the network. One U.S. government publication describes technicians who resolve problems, operators or administrators responsible for physical network resources, help-desk consultants, and managers who monitor and control operations. It is an illustrative model, not a universal list of required job titles.

How does a center help diagnose network problems?
Operators use the center to coordinate monitoring, testing, and fault diagnosis. A historical network-management review describes an architecture in which lines could be switched from the center to help isolate line difficulties. That example reflects the network design of its period; it should not be read as a procedure or capability required of current networks.

How to interpret the term in a specific organization
When a company or service provider uses “NCC,” check what its center actually owns rather than inferring its scope from the name. Useful questions include:
