HostPapa VPS may be worth considering if you want Linux VPS hosting with managed server administration, cPanel/WHM and migration assistance. It is a weaker fit if you prefer to manage the server yourself at the lowest upfront price, or if you need confirmed renewal and backup costs before signing up. Its advertised 99.9% uptime is a provider guarantee, not an independently measured uptime result.
What HostPapa VPS includes
HostPapa offers both unmanaged and managed VPS hosting. They are different service levels, not simply cheaper and more expensive versions of the same offer. With unmanaged VPS, you take responsibility for installing and administering software and for migrating your website, email and databases. HostPapa says cPanel is not included with this option. Its overview lists an entry price of $2.95 per month on a 36-month term.

HostPapa says managed service includes two dedicated IP addresses, a cPanel/WHM license, migration assistance and server-administrator support. Those services may justify the higher price if you do not want to run the server stack yourself. Confirm the exact price and service scope for your selection on HostPapa’s VPS hosting overview.
Managed VPS plans and displayed prices
HostPapa’s managed VPS page lists the following specifications and monthly prices for a discounted three-year term. It says the term renews at a regular rate, but the reviewed page does not state each plan’s renewal amount.
#1 Best Overall
| Plan | Displayed price/month | CPU | Memory | NVMe storage | Transfer |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Progress | $36.95 | 4 cores | 4 GB | 100 GB | 8 TB |
| Achieve | $46.95 | 8 cores | 8 GB | 200 GB | 8 TB |
| Excel | $56.95 | 16 cores | 16 GB | 300 GB | Unmetered |
| Triumph | $86.95 | 32 cores | 32 GB | 500 GB | Unmetered |
These are the amounts displayed for the three-year discounted term, not a complete picture of what hosting will cost over time. Before ordering, check the checkout total, billing term, selected region and renewal amount. Do not estimate renewal cost from the discounted monthly price. Is HostPapa VPS a good fit?
It may suit buyers who want managed administration
Small businesses, agencies and developers who need more control than basic shared hosting may find managed VPS useful, particularly if they value provider administration, cPanel/WHM and migration help. That is a fit based on the features HostPapa describes, not evidence of measured customer outcomes. The larger plans list more CPU cores, memory and storage, but the specifications alone do not establish real-world application performance.

Unmanaged service may suit hands-on operators
If you are comfortable installing and maintaining server software and handling migrations, the unmanaged option has a much lower displayed starting price. In exchange, you assume more responsibility and do not get cPanel included, according to HostPapa’s overview. Compare the labor and expertise you will need—not just the headline price—with the managed tier.
It is less attractive if you need predictable long-term costs or measured performance
The managed plan prices shown are tied to a three-year discounted term, while the reviewed page does not disclose exact renewal amounts. The available evidence also does not establish current, independently measured VPS uptime or performance benchmarks. If either renewal certainty or published performance results is essential to your decision, obtain the missing details or compare alternatives before committing.

What to check before you buy
Confirm the full term and renewal cost
- Choose the managed or unmanaged service level and the plan you need.
- At checkout, verify the complete amount due now, the billing term and the selected region.
- Confirm the regular renewal amount and when it will be charged; do not assume the displayed discounted monthly price continues.
Establish what is backed up
HostPapa’s VPS Terms of Service say customers are responsible for storing, backing up and archiving their content unless independent backup is expressly included in the subscribed service. The terms describe VPS Backup as optional or included with some services, while the product overview separately presents Acronis Backup as an add-on. Before purchase, ask what your specific plan covers, including backup scope, retention, restore method and price. Keep a separate recovery copy and check that it can be restored. HostPapa advertises a 99.9% uptime guarantee and describes NVMe storage and dedicated resources on its product pages. Those are provider claims; the reviewed material does not supply independent current VPS uptime measurements or performance benchmarks. The guarantee should not be treated as proof that a particular workload will achieve that availability.

Check refund eligibility
The managed VPS page advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee and says domain fees are non-refundable. Review the applicable terms and confirm your eligibility before purchasing.

CloudsPress lists a 3.8 score for HostPapa VPS, with its facts checked September 24, 2026. That is the directory publisher’s assessment, not a performance test. LinuxHosted’s 2026 VPS review is affiliate-disclosed and offers positive commentary on managed support, but its listed plan details and prices differ materially from HostPapa’s current official plan page. Use it as commentary, not as the source for current pricing or specifications. TechRadar’s November 26, 2025 review covers HostPapa at the company level, including its review experience with onboarding, introductory pricing and customer support; it does not report benchmarks for the currently listed VPS plans.
