They do not necessarily move or combine automatically. What happens depends on each provider’s policy: a service might link some profile data, offer a separate profile-transfer tool, or leave accounts and billing unchanged. Hulu and Disney+ offer one documented example, but it applies only to eligible subscribers and does not make the two services’ profiles, apps, or subscriptions identical.
What happens to my streaming profile when two services merge?
There is no universal migration rule. A company may connect selected data across services without merging the underlying accounts, or it may offer a profile-transfer process that the customer must start. Check the provider’s notice for the specific services involved before assuming your profile, subscription, or billing will change.

Three terms help distinguish what may be happening:
Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstall- Bundle: One offer provides access to more than one subscription. That does not necessarily combine the services’ apps, features, or rules.
- Profile linking: A provider connects some data between services. Linking does not by itself establish that the accounts or subscriptions are the same.
- Profile transfer: A provider offers a process to move specified profile data to another membership. Netflix, for example, describes a user-initiated transfer to a new Netflix membership; that is a Netflix feature, not a general rule for mergers. Netflix’s profile-transfer instructions explain what its feature carries over.
Will my watchlist move to the new app?
Possibly, but the destination service may not have every saved title, and the provider may impose limits. In its Hulu and Disney+ example, Disney announced profile linking for select Hulu subscribers, describing Hulu watch history, watchlist, and recommendations becoming available in Disney+. Hulu’s help instructions clarify that most eligible profile watch history appears in Disney+ Continue Watching and saved My Stuff titles appear in the Disney+ Watchlist—not that every item is copied without restriction. Disney’s profile-linking announcement and Hulu’s linking guidance describe the arrangement.

Hulu also cautions that some Hulu content is unavailable on Disney+ and that the Disney+ Watchlist may limit how many titles it can hold. A title missing from the destination watchlist therefore does not necessarily mean the original account or list was deleted.
Do my watch history and recommendations carry over?
They may, if the provider supports it and your profile qualifies. In the Hulu/Disney+ case, Disney described bringing Hulu recommendations into Disney+ for select subscribers; Hulu’s help page says most eligible watch history appears in Continue Watching. That is a qualified integration, not evidence that every viewing record or recommendation is reproduced exactly.

Before relying on a transfer or link, check which data fields the provider names. History, recommendations, saved titles, profiles, and playback progress may be treated differently. Netflix’s separate transfer feature, for example, is described as carrying specified personalization, history, and My List data to a new Netflix membership; it should not be taken as a promise about another company’s merger.

Who can link Hulu and Disney+ profiles?
Eligibility depends on the subscription configuration. Hulu’s linking help page lists some subscriptions and add-ons—including Live TV and certain bundle configurations—as ineligible at the time described. Because those conditions can change, check Hulu’s current linking eligibility and instructions before trying to connect profiles.

For eligible subscribers, Disney said linking uses the same MyDisney login and provides access to Hulu content in Disney+ without an additional charge or a change to the Hulu plan. This describes the announced linking arrangement; it does not mean Hulu has been fully absorbed into Disney+ or that every Hulu subscriber’s account has migrated.
Will I have to pay twice after a streaming merger?
Do not assume either that you will be charged twice or that a new app replaces your existing bill. A bundle may include multiple services under one offer, while a linked profile can remain associated with a separately managed subscription. For Hulu and Disney+, Hulu says customers continue to manage their Hulu subscription through Hulu or the third-party billing partner that charges them. Check your account’s billing section and the provider’s terms to identify who bills you and whether the offer changes your plan.

- Compact without compromises: Our sleek design won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, so you can switch from streaming to gaming with ease. Plus, it’s designed to stay hidden behind your TV, keeping wires neatly out of sight
A bundle also does not necessarily make the services interchangeable. Hulu’s Disney+, Hulu, and Max bundle information describes distinct apps, features, and rules, including differences in simultaneous streams, video quality, geography, and downloads. Use the app and account terms for the service you plan to watch.
Should I cancel my old subscription?
Not until you confirm how the new arrangement handles your existing account and billing. Linking a profile is not the same as canceling a subscription, and Hulu’s guidance says its subscription continues to be managed through Hulu or the billing partner. If you cancel or resubscribe before checking, you could disrupt access or billing without gaining a profile transfer. First verify whether your current subscription is eligible, who charges you, and whether the provider explicitly says your plan will change.

What to check before a service change
- Find the provider’s migration or linking notice. Confirm that it applies to your country, plan, and account type.
- Check profile eligibility. Look for exclusions involving add-ons, bundles, or plan tiers.
- Identify the data that moves. Distinguish watch history, saved titles, recommendations, and other profile details.
- Check destination limits. Some titles may be unavailable in the new catalog, and lists may have capacity limits.
- Review billing before changing subscriptions. Find whether the service or a third-party partner charges you and what the provider says to do with the existing plan.
- Keep using the old app unless the provider says otherwise. Profile linking or a bundle does not by itself establish that the original app is closing.
