A changed release date can move when a game launches, but it does not by itself confirm whether the game will still be included with Game Pass, which plans will get it, or where it will be available. Check the game’s current Xbox listing and the latest official Xbox announcement for those details.
Does the game still come to Game Pass on its new release date?
A revised launch date tells you when the game is expected to release; it does not, on its own, establish whether Game Pass inclusion remains in place. Xbox availability can depend on the title, subscription plan, platform, region, and timing. Check the individual game’s current Xbox listing and the latest official announcement rather than assuming that an earlier announcement still applies. Xbox’s Game Pass catalog includes “Coming to Game Pass” and “Leaving soon” collections and warns that titles, features, and availability vary by time, region, plan, and platform.

Why can I see the game but not download it?
A product page can be discoverable before a game is released. Microsoft’s publishing schedule guidance distinguishes when a product page becomes visible from its release: during the discoverability period, customers cannot acquire or download the product unless its release or preorder date has been reached. So a “coming soon” page is not proof that the game is already playable or available to download.
What to check after the date changes
- Find the latest announcement. Recheck the official Xbox announcement for the game; an older roundup or cached date may no longer be current.
- Open the game’s current Xbox listing. Look for the revised release date and whether the title is available, rather than merely visible.
- Confirm your access details. Check the subscription plan, platform, and region shown for the game. Another subscriber’s listing may not reflect your eligibility.
Xbox Wire’s July 7, 2026 Game Pass roundup illustrates why it is worth rechecking: an editor’s note dated July 13 said Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 had been removed from the list of titles coming soon. That update is an example, not a general explanation for removals or a guarantee about how future schedule changes will be handled. Read the Xbox Wire roundup and its update.

Could a technical delay be mistaken for a release-date change?
There is a separate delay in Microsoft’s publisher-side entitlement reporting. Its Game Development Kit documentation says that after a title or add-on goes live in Game Pass, client availability may appear before the publisherQuery API reflects it, because store systems refresh on different schedules. The documented possible lag is two to three hours. This refers to publisher-side reporting, not a general player-facing launch delay or a promise that a player’s access issue will resolve within that time. See Microsoft’s Game Pass entitlement documentation.
