NBA 2K27 is the only released game confirmed in the NVIDIA material reviewed through October 19, 2026, to ship DLSS 5. NVIDIA says the feature launched there as DLSS Neural Rendering for GeForce RTX 50 Series desktop and laptop GPUs and GeForce NOW. Fifteen other games have been announced as DLSS 5 targets, but an announcement does not prove that the feature is playable in the current build. Check the game’s latest patch notes and graphics menu before assuming support.
What DLSS 5 support means right now
DLSS 5 is NVIDIA’s 3D-Guided Neural Rendering technology. It is a rendering option inside a supported game, not a driver-wide switch that automatically works in every title. The game must include the implementation, the driver must be current, and local use requires a GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU.

NVIDIA’s September 3, 2026 FAQ states: “On September 3rd, NVIDIA DLSS 5 featuring 3D-Guided Neural Rendering will debut in NBA 2K27 for all GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs and GeForce NOW.” NVIDIA also described NBA 2K27 as available for RTX 50 Series GPUs and laptops and GeForce NOW in its September 1 announcement.
That leaves two different status categories:
- Confirmed released support: NBA 2K27, where NVIDIA documents the in-game setting and launch availability.
- Announced support: games named by NVIDIA as upcoming or planned DLSS 5 titles. These require a current-build check before you treat them as supported.

In the game, the control is labeled DLSS Neural Rendering, not simply “DLSS 5.” NVIDIA places it in Video Settings. That naming difference matters: searching only for a menu item called “DLSS 5” can make a working implementation look absent.
NVIDIA reports up to 370 frames per second at 4K Ultra with ray tracing enabled on an RTX 5090 in NBA 2K27 with DLSS enabled. This is a vendor-published maximum for that specific configuration, not a typical result, a guarantee for every RTX 50 card, or a universal DLSS 5 improvement figure.
Games announced for DLSS 5
NVIDIA has separately announced DLSS 5 support for the following games. The list describes announced targets; it does not establish that every title has a downloadable patch or an active menu option as of October 19, 2026.

For any game in this announced group, verify three things before you plan a purchase or upgrade around DLSS 5: the game’s current patch notes, the current NVIDIA DLSS game listing, and the options exposed by your installed build. A title can remain on an announcement page while its release timing, supported platform, or exact setting name changes.
Hardware and platform requirements
Local PC rendering
NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 FAQ identifies GeForce RTX 50 Series desktop and laptop GPUs as the local requirement. The reviewed official material does not establish DLSS 5 support for RTX 20, RTX 30, or RTX 40 cards. Do not infer compatibility from the fact that an older card supports earlier DLSS features.
DLSS 5 support is a series-level capability, but the playable experience still depends on the game, resolution, ray-tracing workload, driver, CPU, and the particular card’s performance and memory. An RTX 5070 and an RTX 5090 can both meet the series requirement without delivering the same frame rate or headroom.

GeForce NOW
GeForce NOW is the other platform NVIDIA names for DLSS 5. Rendering occurs on NVIDIA’s cloud hardware and is streamed to your device, so you do not need a local RTX 50 Series GPU. Availability depends on the service catalog, your region, membership tier, and the game’s supported storefront. Catalogs and plan terms can change, so check the current listing before subscribing or assuming that an announced title is playable.

If you are choosing local hardware specifically for DLSS 5, the following comparison keeps the evidence narrow. All four models are RTX 50 Series products and therefore fall within NVIDIA’s stated GPU family requirement. The reviewed DLSS 5 material does not provide a model-by-model price, VRAM figure, noise measurement, or recommended resolution.
| GPU | DLSS 5 family requirement | Resolution target | VRAM | Price | Noise |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GeForce RTX 5070 | Meets the stated RTX 50 Series family requirement | Not stated in the reviewed DLSS 5 material | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated |
| GeForce RTX 5070 Ti | Meets the stated RTX 50 Series family requirement | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated |
| GeForce RTX 5080 | Meets the stated RTX 50 Series family requirement | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated |
| GeForce RTX 5090 | Meets the stated RTX 50 Series family requirement; NVIDIA used this card for its NBA 2K27 example | 4K Ultra example with ray tracing | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated |
The RTX 5090 example should not be read as a recommendation for everyone. Select a card based on your target resolution, ray-tracing settings, the rest of your system, and the games you actually play; DLSS 5 alone does not determine the value of an upgrade.

How to check whether a game supports DLSS 5
- Identify the status of the game. If it is NBA 2K27, NVIDIA documents released support. If it appears only in the announced list above, treat support as unconfirmed until a current patch or menu verifies it.
- Check your local GPU. For local rendering, confirm that the system has a GeForce RTX 50 Series desktop or laptop GPU. RTX 20/30/40 compatibility is not established by the official DLSS 5 information used here.
- Update the NVIDIA driver. Install the newest Game Ready driver through the NVIDIA app or NVIDIA’s driver site. A game patch can depend on driver support that was not present at launch.
- Update the game. Install the latest available game update from your launcher or console-equivalent PC storefront. DLSS options can arrive in a post-launch patch.
- Open the graphics menu. Look under the game’s Graphics or Video Settings. In NBA 2K27, the documented control is DLSS Neural Rendering.
- Enable the neural-rendering option. Apply the setting and restart the game if it requests a restart. Some engines do not expose newly installed rendering features until the application is relaunched.
- Configure the other DLSS controls independently. Set Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and Reflex according to your quality and latency priorities. Ray Reconstruction and ray tracing or path tracing are separate controls; NVIDIA says DLSS 5 can work alongside them.
- Recheck after major updates. A title’s menu label, supported GPU list, or availability can change with a game patch or driver release.
Local RTX 50 rendering versus GeForce NOW
| Decision factor | Local RTX 50 Series GPU | GeForce NOW |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware | Requires a GeForce RTX 50 Series desktop or laptop GPU. | No local RTX 50 GPU required; NVIDIA provides the cloud rendering system. |
| Up-front hardware cost | Requires buying or already owning compatible PC hardware; the reviewed DLSS 5 material does not state current card prices. | Avoids a local GPU purchase, but membership terms apply. |
| Game ownership | Install and run the PC game through a supported launcher. | Depends on the current GeForce NOW catalog and accepted storefront license; verify the individual game listing. |
| Network dependence | Rendering is local, so play does not require a game stream connection. | Requires a suitable internet connection for interactive video streaming. |
| Latency | Input travels to the local PC; system and display settings still affect latency. | Input and video travel through the network, so distance, congestion, and service conditions can add delay. |
| Image quality | Direct local output, limited by your monitor and in-game settings. | Stream quality depends on connection stability, resolution, bitrate, and the active cloud session. |
| Availability | Depends on the game patch, driver, and your RTX 50 hardware. | Depends on the current GeForce NOW catalog, region, plan, and the title’s cloud support. |
Choose local rendering when consistent offline access and the lowest possible network latency matter most. Choose cloud streaming when avoiding a GPU purchase is more important and your connection can sustain the service reliably.

The game is announced but not patched
An NVIDIA announcement can precede the actual release implementation. Check the developer’s newest patch notes and the game’s installed version rather than relying on an older trailer, interview, or store description.

You are searching for the wrong label
In NBA 2K27, look for DLSS Neural Rendering under Video Settings. The menu does not have to use the phrase “DLSS 5.”
The cloud catalog does not include the title
GeForce NOW support is not universal. Search the current catalog for the exact game edition and storefront, and check whether your membership tier includes it. An announced DLSS 5 target is not automatically a cloud-playable game.
What DLSS 5 does—and does not—guarantee
- It is optional. NVIDIA’s FAQ answers “Can I turn DLSS 5 off?” with “Yes. DLSS 5 is optional.” You can compare the game with the feature enabled and disabled on the same system.
- It can coexist with other rendering features. NVIDIA says DLSS 5 works alongside ray tracing, path tracing, Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and Ray Reconstruction. These features can have separate controls and separate performance or image-quality effects.
- There is no universal frame-rate uplift published. The 370 FPS figure is limited to NVIDIA’s NBA 2K27, RTX 5090, 4K Ultra, ray-tracing configuration. It cannot be generalized to every game or RTX 50 card.
- A supported GPU is necessary but not sufficient. The title must also ship the feature, your driver must recognize it, and the option must be enabled in the game.
A practical compatibility decision
Use this short decision path before changing hardware:
Quick Recap
- If the game is NBA 2K27, update the game and driver, then look for DLSS Neural Rendering in Video Settings.
- If the game is one of NVIDIA’s 15 announced targets, verify a shipped patch and current menu option first.
- If the option exists but is disabled, confirm the system has a GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU for local play.
- If there is no compatible local GPU, search the current GeForce NOW catalog and confirm region and membership requirements.
- After enabling the feature, tune Super Resolution, Frame Generation, Reflex, ray tracing, and Ray Reconstruction separately instead of treating “DLSS 5” as a single performance preset.
