WQXGA means 2560 × 1600 pixels, with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It describes the number and shape of pixels in a display—not its physical size, sharpness, refresh rate, brightness, or panel type.

What does WQXGA mean?

WQXGA stands for Wide Quad Extended Graphics Array (also written Wide Quad XGA). The International Committee for Display Metrology lists it as 2560 pixels across by 1600 pixels high, in a 16:10 format. ICDM’s resolution listing is a reference for the dimensions and ratio; Lenovo also lists WQXGA as 2560 × 1600. Lenovo explains display resolution in pixels.

The first number is the horizontal pixel count; the second is the vertical count. Since 16:10 is taller relative to its width than 16:9, a 16:10 WQXGA screen has more vertical pixels than a 2560 × 1440 display of the same width.

How does WQXGA differ from WQHD and UHD?

These labels refer to different pixel dimensions. WQXGA and WQHD share a width of 2560 pixels, but WQXGA is 160 pixels taller. Lenovo identifies WQHD as 2560 × 1440 and UHD as 3840 × 2160; its terminology guide expands WQXGA and compares it with QHD and UHD. Lenovo’s WQXGA guide provides that comparison.

What does the WQXGA label tell you about a display?

It tells you the pixel resolution, not the complete display specification. The label alone does not establish the screen’s diagonal size, pixel density, refresh rate, brightness, color performance, or panel technology. Those details vary by product, so check the exact model’s specifications.

How to check whether a screen is WQXGA

  1. Find the resolution in the product’s specifications, rather than relying only on a marketing label.
  2. Confirm that the listed dimensions are 2560 × 1600 pixels. If the listing says 2560 × 1440, it is WQHD in Lenovo’s terminology, not WQXGA.
  3. Review separate specifications for screen size, refresh rate, brightness, color, and panel type if those matter to your choice.
