To download a photo you saved in Snapchat, open Memories, press and hold the Snap, tap Export, then choose a destination such as your phone’s camera roll. You can export several selected Snaps this way, or request a Memories-only archive through Snapchat’s My Data tool.
Download one or more photos from Memories
This is the quickest option for Snaps already saved in Memories. Snapchat’s download instructions describe exporting a single Snap or selecting several together.

- From Snapchat’s Camera screen, swipe up to open Memories.
- Press and hold the Snap you want to save.
- Tap Export, then choose the destination offered by your device.
- To export multiple Snaps, open the Memories selector, select the items, and choose an export option.
The export destination determines where the copies go; choose your camera roll or another available save or share destination as needed.
Download a bulk archive of Memories
For a larger collection, request a Memories-only export using My Data. Snapchat prepares an archive asynchronously; the result is a ZIP file with an index.html page for navigating the exported content. Follow Snapchat’s My Data export instructions.

- Sign in at accounts.snapchat.com, or open My Data from Snapchat Settings.
- Enable Export your Memories, then choose Request Only Memories.
- Choose a date range, confirm the notification email, and submit the request.
- When Snapchat says the export is ready, open See exports and select Download.
- Extract the ZIP, open
index.html, select Memories in its navigation, and download individual items or all of them.
Snapchat says it strives to provide My Data exports within seven days, but this is a target rather than a guaranteed deadline; large requests can take longer. If a download has problems, Snapchat suggests trying a computer and, if necessary, a different browser.
Save future Snaps to your phone
To make local copies of future Snaps, change the Save Button setting in Snapchat. Snapchat’s save-location guidance gives this path: Settings → My App → Memories → Save Button. Choose Memories & Camera Roll to save to both locations, or Camera Roll to save to your phone’s photos without relying on Memories as the destination.
Menu names and placement can vary by app version and locale, so the exact screen may differ. Snapchat recommends ensuring Memories are fully backed up before logging out, moving to another device, or uninstalling the app.

Do not count on Snapchat Support to restore a deleted Memory: Snapchat says deleted Memories cannot be recovered by Support. Deleted, viewed, or expired Snaps and Chats may also be removed from Snapchat’s servers. Its Support help topic explains these recovery limits.
If a photo was never saved to Memories or another location you control, the documented download routes above may not contain it. Avoid treating third-party recovery apps as a dependable way to retrieve deleted Snapchat content. For photos you want to keep, export them while they remain in Memories and maintain a complete backup.
