Her review presents it as a dedicated control surface for Codex—not a meaningful coding upgrade. That distinction matters when weighing the $230 price she reported.
What the Codex Micro is designed to do
Chedraoui describes the Codex Micro as a 12-key square keypad made by OpenAI and Work Louder. Six keys are for agents, with status lights to show progress; six other configurable controls include a rotary knob, joystick, microphone key and shortcut keys. The review also describes USB-C and Bluetooth connectivity. After pairing, configuration takes place in the ChatGPT desktop app.

The device is meant to keep a few Codex actions within reach: see how agents are progressing, respond to approval requests, track projects and issue voice-to-text commands. Chedraoui found that she could check progress and authorize requests without switching back to the desktop app.
What the reviewer liked—and what fell short
Dedicated controls made agent monitoring and approvals convenient in Chedraoui’s workflow. She also liked using keys to track projects and give voice-to-text commands. But the novelty wore off, and she says the keypad did not help her troubleshoot or debug code. Her conclusion was that it solved a convenience problem she could have lived with rather than giving her a substantial coding advantage.

That is one reviewer’s subjective account, not a controlled productivity comparison. The review does not benchmark the keypad against ordinary keyboard shortcuts, the ChatGPT desktop app or other macro pads, so it cannot establish whether the device makes coding faster overall.
Does the convenience justify the reported price?
Chedraoui reported a price of $230 before taxes and shipping. Her review also says the limited run sold out in about 12 hours and that there were no plans to extend it. Both figures are historical claims from the September 8, 2026 review, not confirmation of current price, stock or a new production run. The reported 12-hour sellout is not independently audited. To decide whether the controls are worth paying for, focus on how often you actually monitor multiple agents or approve prompts. Then consider whether dedicated keys would save enough context switching to matter compared with using the desktop app or keyboard shortcuts. Those are personal workflow trade-offs, not benefits the review measured.

Who might find it useful?
- Potentially a fit: someone who regularly keeps several Codex agents active and values having status and approval controls immediately at hand.
- Probably not compelling: someone who rarely checks agents, is comfortable switching to the desktop app, or expects a keypad to improve debugging or coding performance.
The review mentions clicky and silent switch versions as options to consider, but does not provide comparative testing of them. It also describes a full 32-key cap set; that detail does not change the reviewer’s assessment of the device’s coding value.

What the review can—and cannot—tell you
Chedraoui says she used a unit borrowed from PCMag for a month. Her account is useful for understanding how the controls felt in her workflow, but it is not an independent purchase report or a general performance test. It does not establish current availability or retail pricing, and it offers no measured comparison with other ways to control Codex.
