“Nonviolent” therefore describes the game’s entire advancement model, not merely an optional pacifist choice. You do not avoid combat by taking a special route. Combat is not part of the intended play loop.

Use timing-based movement interactions
The Steam listing mentions “timing-based hits to gather resources.” Read alongside the official press-kit statement that there is no combat, “hits” should not be interpreted as punches or attacks against creatures. The safer interpretation is a timing-based interaction mechanic: you perform a movement or contact action at the right moment to collect resources or trigger progress.
The public descriptions do not specify the exact input, resource types or timing windows. What they do establish is that timing matters and that gathering can be part of traversal. It is a skill check embedded in exploration, not a disguised battle system.

Conversations explain the afterlife
Vasily’s understanding of Abelina grows through the people he meets and what they tell him. Settlers from overlapping generations are trying to live in this place, and their accounts supply context that movement alone cannot. Conversations are therefore part of advancement: they explain the rules, history and meaning of the world rather than serving only as optional flavor between platforming sections.
This also means that exploration can change what a location means. A strange landmark may be only a visual curiosity when first seen; after a conversation, it can become evidence about the afterlife or about the people who inhabit it. The wilderness is deliberately surreal. You may learn something from an inhabitant, recognize a previously unexplained feature and then choose to return to a nearby branch. The available information does not confirm a specific quest-log system or fast-travel feature, so the reliable expectation is simpler: discovery and conversation gradually make the setting intelligible.
Is Abelina a walking simulator or a real platformer?
Abelina is better described as an exploration platformer than as a conventional walking simulator.
