Marvell Technology makes semiconductors and related intellectual property for data infrastructure. Its products include custom chips, components that move data, Ethernet and switching products, network processors, and storage controllers. Customers incorporate them into data-center, enterprise, carrier, and consumer systems; Marvell is not primarily a maker of finished consumer devices.

|---|---|---|
| Custom ASICs | Customer-specific chips that combine selected computing, networking, storage, security, or interconnect functions. | AI systems, data centers, communications equipment, storage, and other specialized systems. |
| Interconnect and electro-optics | Moves data electrically or optically, including between chips, systems, and data centers. | Data-center links and carrier networks. |
| Ethernet and switching | Connects devices and directs network traffic. | Enterprise, industrial, carrier, cloud, and AI networks. |
| Processors and connectivity | Processes network traffic and supports functions such as routing, security, and switching. | Routers, switches, security appliances, wireless equipment, storage systems, and network interface cards. |
| Storage controllers | Manages how data is read from and written to storage devices. | Hard drives and solid-state drives, including enterprise and data-center storage. |
These products are components and design platforms, not necessarily retail products carrying the Marvell name. Marvell describes its scope as spanning “the data center core to network edge” in its FY2026 Form 10-K.

How the main product categories work
Custom ASICs: chips designed for a customer’s system
An application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) is designed for a particular customer or workload rather than sold as a single general-purpose chip for any buyer. Marvell’s ASIC platform can draw on high-speed SerDes, Arm compute, security, storage, silicon photonics, chiplets, and advanced packaging. The resulting design may serve AI computing, networking, carrier infrastructure, or storage, depending on the customer’s requirements.

Interconnect and electro-optics: moving data
Data centers and carrier networks need components that carry large volumes of data from one place to another. Marvell lists products such as PAM and coherent digital signal processors (DSPs), laser drivers, transimpedance amplifiers, silicon photonics, optical modules, active electrical cable DSPs, and PCIe retimers. These components help handle or condition signals across optical and electrical links; they are generally parts of larger systems rather than stand-alone consumer devices.

Ethernet and switching: connecting systems and directing traffic
Marvell makes Ethernet controllers and network adapters, physical-layer transceivers, and switching chips. Its Prestera family addresses enterprise, industrial, carrier, cloud, and AI networking; Teralynx is aimed at high-bandwidth cloud data-center switching. In practical terms, these products help equipment communicate over Ethernet and help switches direct traffic to the appropriate destination.
Processors and connectivity: handling network functions
OCTEON processors and data processing units (DPUs) are designed for equipment including routers, switches, security appliances, wireless access points, base stations, storage arrays, and smart network interface controllers. Marvell’s portfolio also includes PCIe and CXL switching products. A network processor or DPU is not simply a general-purpose PC processor: it is intended to handle networking or infrastructure tasks within a larger system.
Storage controllers: managing drives
Marvell’s Bravera portfolio includes hard-disk-drive and solid-state-drive controllers. These chips manage communication with storage media and support storage products used in high-capacity enterprise and data-center environments as well as other systems.
Who uses Marvell chips, and where do they end up?
Marvell sells semiconductor solutions that its customers design into finished products. A chip may ultimately be inside a server, network switch, storage array, carrier-system device, broadband gateway, gaming console, or PC. The end user may encounter the finished equipment without ever seeing Marvell’s name on it.

In its fiscal 2026 reporting, Marvell grouped end markets into data center and communications and other. The company changed its reporting categories beginning in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026; these labels are accounting categories, not a claim that each product belongs to only one type of application.

The company reported $8.2 billion in net revenue for fiscal 2026, 42% above fiscal 2025, in its FY2026 Form 10-K. Marvell attributed data-center growth to demand related to AI custom products and electro-optics, and said communications and other recovered from an inventory correction. These are Marvell’s reported results and explanations, not independent market estimates.

Marvell completed the sale of its automotive Ethernet business to Infineon Technologies AG on August 14, 2025, according to its FY2026 Form 10-K. The filing says the sale contributed to lower automotive Ethernet sales in fiscal 2026. Marvell’s broader discussion still includes selected industrial and automotive-adjacent applications, but its divested automotive Ethernet business should not be described as a current Marvell product line.
How to think about Marvell’s place in technology
The simplest distinction is between what a chip does and how it is sold. Some Marvell products are merchant components that equipment makers can incorporate into systems; custom ASICs, by contrast, are tailored to a customer’s design. Across both approaches, the recurring jobs are computing infrastructure tasks: processing network functions, connecting systems, moving data, switching traffic, and controlling storage.
That makes Marvell a behind-the-scenes supplier to the infrastructure used by cloud providers, businesses, carriers, and consumer-device manufacturers—not chiefly a brand selling complete computers, phones, or networking equipment to consumers.
