Amazon Kids+ is a paid subscription to a changing library of children’s books, games, videos, music, apps, and Alexa Skills. Amazon targets it to children ages 3–12 and offers access on compatible Fire tablets, Kindle e-readers, Fire TV devices, and Echo devices. It may suit families who expect children to use that catalog regularly; the free Amazon Kids profile and parental controls are available without a Kids+ subscription.
What does an Amazon Kids+ subscription include?
Amazon describes Kids+ as an ad-free, age-appropriate catalog for children. Its examples include books and videos from brands such as Disney, Nickelodeon, Marvel, LEGO, Sesame Street, and PBS Kids, along with educational STEM and STEAM activities, apps and games, audiobooks, podcasts, and Amazon Kids+ Originals. These are examples, not a promise that every named title is currently available.

The catalog changes over time. Amazon’s terms say it does not guarantee that any specific book, film, show, app, game, or type of content will remain in the subscription. Check the catalog for titles your child cares about before subscribing rather than assuming a favorite will stay included.

Sleep Studio on Echo
Amazon announced Sleep Studio on June 9, 2026. It combines bedtime stories, guided meditations, and calming sounds from content sources including Calm, Headspace, and Moshi. Amazon says it is included with Kids+ at no additional cost, but the feature is for compatible Echo devices with a Kids+ profile enabled—not every device that supports the subscription. Which devices can use Kids+?
Amazon lists compatible Fire tablets, Kindle e-readers, Fire TV, and Alexa-enabled Echo devices. The same subscription can be used across compatible devices, although some content is device-specific. Compatibility can vary by device and marketplace, so confirm support for your particular model and country before subscribing. Amazon says some of its Kids devices include six or twelve months of Kids+; check the current product listing for the offer and its terms.
Is Amazon Kids+ included with Prime?
Do not assume that Prime includes Kids+. Amazon’s available overview lists separate prices for Prime members and non-Prime customers, but that overview was published in August 2023, so its figures are historical—not verified current rates. The official information available here does not establish current U.S. pricing or settle whether a particular Prime offer applies in your country. Check the price and renewal terms displayed in your Amazon account before subscribing.
What can you use for free without Kids+?
Amazon Kids profiles and parental controls do not require the paid Kids+ catalog. On a compatible device, parents can create a child profile and use controls for age-appropriate content, screen time, educational goals, web browsing, in-app purchases, and activity. The Parent Dashboard is the management interface; documented options include weekday and weekend access settings, age filters, content access, and activity review. Features and controls may vary by device or marketplace.

Kids+ adds subscription content; it is not required to create a child profile or use those parental controls.
How does renewal and cancellation work?
Amazon says a Kids+ subscription bundled with a Kids Edition device renews automatically when the included period ends, using the payment method on file. Before a six- or twelve-month included offer expires, check the renewal date and rate in your account so you know whether a recurring charge will begin.
Amazon’s UK help page says customers can cancel through Your Memberships and Subscriptions or the Parent Dashboard website, and that cancellation is not available in the Parent Dashboard mobile app. This is UK-specific guidance; menus and cancellation routes may differ elsewhere. There is no universal value verdict: it depends on the current price in your country and whether your household will use the catalog. Weigh these factors before starting a paid plan:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Expected use: Will your child regularly read books, watch videos, play games, listen to music or audiobooks, or use Alexa content?
- Children and ages: Consider how many children will use the subscription and whether its intended 3–12 age range fits them.
- Devices you already own: Check that your Fire tablet, Kindle, Fire TV, or Echo model supports the content or feature you want. You do not need to buy a tablet just to subscribe.
- What you value: Decide whether ad-free, curated access across several kinds of content is useful to your family.
- Price and renewal: Use the amount and renewal terms shown in your account, not an older published price. Factor in any included trial or device-bundle period and when it ends.
Kids+ is more likely to make sense when children will use several parts of its library regularly across compatible devices. If you mainly want parental controls, or expect to use only a particular title occasionally, the free controls or another way of getting that content may be a better fit. A fair comparison with buying individual apps or books would require current, like-for-like prices and availability; there is no basis here to claim Kids+ always saves money.
