Yes. Bun 1.1 brought its JavaScript runtime, test runner, package manager and bundler to Windows 10 and later. Bun announced the release on April 1, 2024, under the playful headline “Bundows is here.” The Windows launch was only part of the release: Bun also introduced Bun Shell and a built-in Glob API, among other changes.
What did Bun 1.1 support on Windows?
Bun described itself as an all-in-one toolkit for running, building, testing and debugging JavaScript and TypeScript. With version 1.1, Bun said all four core components—the runtime, test runner, package manager and bundler—worked on Windows 10 and later. The release announcement is Bun’s own account of compatibility, not an independent certification. Bun 1.1 announcement

Bun reported that its Windows build passed 98% of its macOS and Linux test suite. That percentage refers to Bun’s test suite; it does not mean every Node.js project or dependency will work unchanged on Windows.

Bun’s April 2024 announcement published Windows comparisons for package installation and command execution. These are vendor-reported release-era benchmarks, not independent tests or measurements of current Bun, npm, Yarn or Node.js releases. Bun said the Vite React app installation comparison used scripts configured with --ignore-scripts. Bun 1.1 announcement

What else was new in Bun 1.1?
Bun Shell
Bun introduced Bun Shell, a cross-platform shell-like tool callable from JavaScript or TypeScript using Bun.$. It provides familiar shell syntax and built-in utilities, so scripts can invoke shell-style commands from within a JavaScript or TypeScript program. Bun 1.1 announcement

Node.js compatibility work
The release announcement listed compatibility work including HTTP/2 client APIs, recursive fs.readdir(), IPC between Bun and Node.js processes, and other Node API additions and fixes. Bun’s stated aim in the announcement was to be “a drop-in replacement for Node.js.” That is Bun’s goal, not a guarantee that every project can switch without changes; check the APIs and dependencies your application actually uses. What does the April 2024 announcement establish today?
It records what Bun said about version 1.1 at launch—not the status of the latest release. Bun’s blog index lists releases after 1.1, so current Windows support, compatibility and performance should be checked against the release materials for the version you plan to use. Bun blog
For the historical question posed by Bytes #276—when Bun would support Windows—the answer was Bun 1.1, announced April 1, 2024. For choosing a runtime or package workflow now, verify the current release and test your own application rather than treating launch-era benchmarks as a present-day comparison.
