Open Jackbox.tv, enter the room code shown on the host’s screen, and choose a player name. Guests do not need to install an app, buy the pack, or use a console controller. They do need internet access and a view of the game screen. These are Jackbox’s general joining instructions; Party Pack 12 was scheduled to launch on October 15, 2026, so pack-specific compatibility had not yet been confirmed after release as of October 3, 2026.
Which devices can players use?
Jackbox describes its player devices broadly: “Any device with a web browser can join one of our games to play,” according to Jackbox Games Support’s guide, dated October 28, 2025. In practice, that means a phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer that can open Jackbox.tv in a supported browser. Jackbox’s FAQ likewise says players need a smartphone or web-enabled device, not an app or an additional purchase.

The guest device acts as a controller: players use its browser to submit answers and interact with the game. A console gamepad is not required for guests.

How to join a game
- Ask the host to launch the game and make sure you can see the game screen and its room code.
- On your phone, tablet, or computer, open Jackbox.tv in a browser.
- Enter the room code shown on the host’s screen, enter a player name, and join.
- Use the browser page to play. Keep the host’s game screen visible so you can follow prompts and see what is happening.
You need an internet connection. Jackbox’s support guide says the browser must support cookies, WebSockets, HTML5, and JavaScript, features found in nearly every modern browser.

Published Jackbox.tv browser minimums
Jackbox lists the following minimum browser versions for Jackbox.tv. These are its published browser requirements, not a Party Pack 12-specific compatibility certification.

Jackbox’s browser guidance also describes special requirements for certain Party Pack 11 games, including microphone access in Hear Say and GPU acceleration for Cookie Haus. Those are Party Pack 11 details and should not be treated as requirements for Party Pack 12 without separate official confirmation.

The host platform is different from a guest’s device
The host runs the purchased game; each guest joins through a browser on a separate device. Jackbox Games’ October 1, 2026 announcement lists Party Pack 12 for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV, iPad, and Mac App Store. Guests do not each need one of those host platforms: they can use a browser-capable phone or computer while the host runs the game on a console, computer, or supported Apple device.

If the host also wants to submit answers, Jackbox’s support guide says they cannot enter answers on the same device that is running the game. The host should use a second device, such as a phone, as their controller.

Joining with friends who are playing remotely
For a remote group, the host can share the game screen through a service such as Discord or Zoom. Guests still open Jackbox.tv on their own browser devices and enter the room code. Screen sharing matters because players need to see the host’s game screen to read prompts and follow play.

Jackbox Games announced Party Pack 12 on October 1, 2026, with an October 15, 2026 launch date. As of October 3, 2026, it had not launched. The announcement describes five new games, each suited for 2–8 players, and gives an announced price of $29.99, subject to store, region, and later changes. Those pack details do not change the general browser-based joining method above.
