The game is a better fit for someone seeking a substantial RPG than for someone looking for a short, linear story. The developer estimates 50–70 hours of content across the three zones; that is a store estimate, not a guaranteed completion time, and your playtime will depend on how much you explore and which activities you pursue. Steam identifies Questline as the developer and Awaken Realms as the publisher. Early Access began on March 30, 2023, and the full release followed on May 23, 2025. Steam’s mature-content description mentions blood, moderate brutality, and dark story tropes, so the tone is worth considering if you prefer lighter fantasy. Steam store page

- THE DIVINE METAL: You are Aran de Lira, firstborn of the King’s Ward. The newly crowned Queen Nerea has cast a spell that turns steel into stone. Only her army of abominations wield the divine metal against which other blades shatter.
- THE FORGE: Find Forge Scrolls, develop your forging skills and craft your weapon to suit your fighting style. The chosen weapon family and the materials you create it from will affect characteristics such as weight, length, durability, penetration and edge quality.
- CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON: Choose between seven different weapon families and over 30 unique Forge Scrolls, which allow almost infinite weapon combinations. Your choice of weapon will be crucial when facing your enemy!
- TACTICAL COMBAT: A unique and challenging combat system which allows you to attack specific body parts of the enemy. Slash, stab or bludgeon enemies depending on the situation and what the enemy is equipped with. Only the right weapon will allow you to overcome the enemy’s armour.
- YOU ARE NOT ALONE: Adso is Aran’s companion who will join him on his journey. During combat, Adso gives helpful tips how to defeat enemies by analysing them and taking notes in his chronicles. He will be crucial on your adventure, as he speaks the ancient forger language.
Who is likely to enjoy it—and who should pause?
It may suit you if…
- You want room to explore and spend time on side quests rather than move through a tightly scripted, brief campaign.
- You like experimenting with character builds and different approaches to combat and progression.
- You are drawn to a bleak reworking of Arthurian themes and are comfortable with mature content.
- You value optional systems such as crafting, alchemy, and settlement or home activities alongside the main story.
Consider trying the demo first if…
- You are unsure whether the first- or third-person feel, combat, or dark tone will work for you.
- You play on PC and want to see how the game runs on your particular machine. A requirements list cannot guarantee performance on every setup.
- You are deciding whether a large RPG is worth the time commitment.

What do player ratings tell you?
At the 2026 access snapshot, Steam showed 87% positive from 19,894 English-language lifetime reviews, and 85% positive from 432 reviews in the preceding 30 days. The US PlayStation Store showed 4.29 out of 5 from 9,854 ratings. These are separate platform-specific user snapshots, not critic scores, and their counts and results change over time. They can indicate broad player sentiment, but they cannot tell you whether you will enjoy the game or how it will perform on your hardware. Steam store page · US PlayStation Store
PC Gamer’s launch coverage described the dark Arthurian setting and repeated the advertised 50–70-hour length; later coverage reported continued attention to polishing Act Three and technical updates. That history is a reason to check recent platform-specific feedback if you are concerned about rough edges, not a guarantee of current performance. No independent performance testing is established here. PC Gamer launch coverage · PC Gamer update coverage

Which edition should you buy?
For most new players, the Standard edition is the straightforward starting point. Choose a bundle only if you already want its expansion or extras, and check exactly what your selected store includes—edition names and bundle entitlements are not identical everywhere.
| Option | What the listings say it includes | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard/base game | The core game. | Players who want the main experience first, are unsure about the game, or want to try the demo before buying. |
| Supporter Edition / Supporters Pack | The official store lists a soundtrack, digital artbook, and Golden Horse Armor. Steam lists the Supporters Pack as separate DLC; check whether the edition you are viewing includes the base game. | Players who specifically want the digital extras or want to support the developers. These extras are not required for the core game. |
| Adventure Pack | Base game plus Sanctuary of Sarras. | New buyers who already intend to play the expansion. |
| Excalibur Edition | The official store lists the base game, Sanctuary of Sarras, soundtrack, digital artbook, Golden Horse Armor, Bonus Content #1–#3, and Merlin’s Tomb. Steam’s bundle listing includes the base game, Supporters Pack, and Sanctuary of Sarras. | Buyers who want the expansion and extras together, after checking their platform’s current contents and avoiding duplicate items they already own. |
Before paying for a bundle, compare its current contents with your library and the individual items offered in your region. A bundle is not automatically better value if it includes DLC you already own or extras you do not want. Official store · Steam store page
Do you need the Sanctuary of Sarras DLC?
No. Sanctuary of Sarras is the paid full-fledged expansion described in the listings, not a requirement to start or play the base game. The developer estimates 10–15 hours of new content. Its advertised additions include a storyline concerning Nimue and Arthur’s deserters, a distinct sea-shaped setting, more than 20 dungeons and interiors, new characters and bosses, over 100 equipment pieces, and three new skill trees. Those figures and features are publisher descriptions, not independently measured playtime or content counts. Official store

What should PC players check before buying?
Steam lists these minimum PC requirements, targeting low settings at 30 FPS in Full HD, with an SSD strongly recommended. The official store lists an RTX 2070 Super and an i7 13th-generation CPU in its recommended column. These are vendor-listed specifications, not independent benchmarks or a guarantee of performance.
| Requirement | Steam minimum listing |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel i5 8th-generation CPU or AMD equivalent |
| Memory | 12 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GTX 1060 6 GB or equivalent |
| DirectX | Version 11 |
| Storage | 31 GB |
If your PC is near the minimum, use the demo where available to assess the experience on your own system rather than treating the minimum specification as a promise of smooth play. Steam store page · Official store
How much does it cost?
There is no single price that applies to every player: storefronts use regional pricing and may run different promotions. The US PlayStation Store showed a Standard Edition original price of $44.99 in the accessed listing, but the discount shown there had offer dates that had already passed. Steam’s accessed listing showed a promotion in Polish złoty. Neither snapshot establishes a current price. Check your platform’s store in your region at purchase time, and compare the same edition and included content rather than comparing unlike promotions. US PlayStation Store · Steam store page
