That can include your account details, gameplay activity, purchases, IP address, general location, device identifiers, crash reports, page activity and cookie-based identifiers. Epic says it uses the data to operate accounts and services, process transactions, improve products, personalize features, protect security, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.
You can request access, correction or deletion; opt out of marketing; manage cookies; revoke connected-service permissions; use parental controls; or delete your Epic account. Each control has boundaries. Cookie blocking can reduce functionality, legal and security exceptions can delay or prevent deletion of some records, and deleting an account also removes its associated purchases, progress and items.

What information does Epic Games collect?
Epic’s privacy materials describe three broad collection routes: information you provide directly, information generated automatically when you use Epic Services, and information obtained from service providers or other third parties. The exact fields depend on the product, platform, transaction and account type.

When you register or maintain an Epic account, Epic may receive your name, public-facing display name, password, country and email address. Additional information can be requested for specific programs. For example, contest or competitive-event applications, Support-A-Creator participation and Island Creator applications may require eligibility details and payout information.

Information you submit to customer support, account forms or other Epic features can also become part of the information associated with your account. A field being optional in one feature does not mean it is optional everywhere; requirements vary by service and activity.
Gameplay, store and website activity
Epic says it may record which application or game you use, when and for how long you use it, gameplay attempts, progression and results, saved preferences, crash reports, purchases and entitlements. On Epic websites and service interfaces, it may collect page views, time spent, clicks, referring and exit URLs, platform type and related interaction data.
That means the answer to “Does Epic track what I play?” is yes: its stated collection includes the game or application used and details about sessions and gameplay outcomes. The policy does not provide a single public figure for how much data is collected per player, so the fields and frequency should be understood as service-dependent rather than a fixed log for every account.

Technical information can include your IP address, device identifiers, internet-service-provider information, installed plugins, device make and model, operating system, browser and other system specifications. Epic also describes collecting general device location, typically inferred from the IP address. This is generally an approximate region, not a statement that the service receives a precise GPS coordinate for every session.
Crash reports and diagnostic information help Epic investigate failures and compatibility problems. Device and network details can also support authentication, security monitoring, fraud prevention and enforcement of service rules.

Cookies and similar technologies
Epic and its providers may use cookies, log files, web beacons and similar technologies. These identifiers can recognize a device, authenticate a session, remember preferences, support advertising functions, personalize experiences and measure usage through analytics.
Blocking or deleting these technologies in your browser or mobile-device settings can reduce tracking, but it can also sign you out, erase saved preferences or make some features unavailable. Cookie controls are therefore a trade-off between privacy and functionality, not a guarantee that all account or gameplay data collection stops.
Information from other services
Epic’s policy says it may receive information from service providers and third parties, including platforms or other services you use to access Epic Services. A console, platform account or another sign-in provider may therefore supply information needed to authenticate or connect your accounts. What is received depends on the relationship and permissions involved.
Why does Epic collect this data?
Epic describes several purposes, and they should not be treated as one interchangeable reason:
- Service operation: creating and managing accounts, authenticating users, delivering games and features, providing support and maintaining saved settings.
- Transactions: processing purchases, maintaining entitlements and records, and delivering products or benefits tied to a transaction.
- Communications: sending service, security and account messages, along with marketing where permitted and where you have not opted out.
- Development and personalization: analyzing use, fixing crashes, improving products, developing new offerings and tailoring content or features.
- Security and integrity: detecting fraud, cheating, abuse, unauthorized behavior and threats to Epic’s systems or users.
- Legal and contractual compliance: enforcing terms, resolving disputes, protecting legal rights and meeting obligations imposed by law.
Some collection is integral to providing a requested service, such as associating a purchase with an account or using technical data to secure a login. Marketing messages and some personalization or analytics activities may offer opt-out choices. The privacy controls available to you depend on the purpose and the applicable law; there is no single switch that disables every category while leaving every feature unchanged.

What information can Epic share with games and connected services?
When you access a third-party game or application through the Epic Games Store, Epic says some account information may be shared with the publisher or developer so the transaction and product features work. The information needed can differ by title and integration.

Any other information access requires your explicit consent.” In that guidance, Epic also says it does not share your Epic password or payment details with third-party products or services through this sign-in mechanism. You can deny requested access or revoke access you previously granted.

Does Epic sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising?
Epic’s privacy policy states that it does not sell the personal data it collects and does not process it for targeted advertising. That statement does not mean Epic collects no advertising, analytics or personalization-related identifiers: its materials still describe cookies and similar technologies being used to manage advertising, personalize experiences and perform analytics. The distinction is between those stated functions and the policy’s assertion that Epic does not sell personal data or process it for targeted advertising.
Marketing communications are a separate practical issue. You can opt out of marketing emails and change related account settings even though service, security and transaction messages may still be necessary.
How to control your Epic data
Request access, correction or deletion
Epic says you can submit a request concerning personal information associated with your Epic account. Identity verification may be required. The response can be limited by legal, security or operational requirements, so a request is a rights process rather than an assurance that every record is immediately removed.

- Use Epic’s privacy-request or account-support process to identify whether you want access, correction or deletion.
- Provide the information needed to verify that you control the account.
- Specify the account and the records or issue involved; precise details help Epic locate the correct information.
- Keep the confirmation and any response so you can clarify an incomplete correction or follow up on a delayed request.
Stop marketing messages
Use the opt-out mechanism in an Epic marketing email, adjust the applicable Epic account setting, or contact Epic. This changes marketing preferences; it does not necessarily stop operational messages about security, transactions, account status or service changes.
Manage cookies and tracking technologies
Browser and mobile-device privacy settings can block, delete, limit or manage cookies and similar technologies. Because these identifiers can support authentication, saved preferences and feature delivery, test the services you rely on after changing the setting. If a sign-in or site feature stops working, restore only the minimum setting needed rather than assuming all tracking must be enabled.
Review and revoke connected-service permissions
Check the connected-account or authorized-product area associated with your Epic account. For each service, determine whether it only verifies your identity or has additional permissions that you explicitly approved. Deny new requests you do not need and revoke existing access you no longer trust. Revocation can stop a service from making future authorized requests, but it does not necessarily erase information that service already received; address that separately with the service concerned.
Delete the Epic account
Epic provides a self-service account-deletion process. A deletion request can be reactivated by logging in within 14 days. After that 14-day period, Epic says deletion is irreversible.

Deletion has a significant consequence: Epic warns that purchases, in-game progress and items associated with the account are deleted. Save any records you are legally entitled to retain and make sure you understand the loss of access before confirming. If you only need to stop marketing or remove a connected app, use those narrower controls instead of deleting the entire account.

When a child is under 13, or under the applicable digital-consent age in the child’s region, Epic may place the account in a Cabined Account until a parent or guardian provides permission. Epic’s child-privacy materials describe limited collection for this state, including the child’s date of birth and country for age settings, a parent or guardian email for notice and consent, a hashed and salted sign-in email, and persistent identifiers such as an IP address, gaming-platform account IDs and device identifiers.
Cabined status is designed to restrict higher-risk or interactive features while consent is pending.

Parents can manage a child’s access to social features and purchases in Epic-owned games, control which games the child can obtain from the Epic Games Store, and adjust related settings through the Epic Account Portal or in-game controls. Epic says parents can review the child’s personal information and delete the child’s account. Deleting it removes the child’s personal information and stops further collection, subject to applicable exceptions.
How long can Epic retain information?
There is no single retention period for every Epic record. Epic says retention varies according to the type of information and the reason it was processed. Information may be kept as needed to provide services, complete transactions, maintain business records, enforce terms, prevent fraud or cheating, resolve disputes, protect security, exercise legal rights or comply with law.
Consequently, “delete my data” should be understood as a request evaluated under applicable rights and exceptions, not a promise that every backup, transaction record or security record disappears immediately. If you need a particular category removed, identify it specifically in your request and ask which legal or operational exception applies if it cannot be deleted.
A practical privacy plan for an Epic account
- Secure the account first. Review the email address, password and authentication options so an unauthorized person cannot use your privacy controls.
- Audit connections. Remove external products and platforms you no longer use, and decline permissions that go beyond identity verification.
- Separate essential messages from marketing. Opt out of marketing while keeping service and security notifications available.
- Adjust device and browser tracking settings. Block or limit cookies where the resulting loss of functionality is acceptable, then check that sign-in and saved preferences still work.
- Use a targeted privacy request. Ask for access or correction when you need visibility or accuracy; reserve full account deletion for when you accept losing purchases, progress and items.
- For a child’s account, use parental controls. Set purchase, game-access and social-feature limits through Epic’s account or in-game controls and understand whether the account is Cabined.
Epic’s published approach therefore offers several layers of control rather than one universal off switch: account rights requests, communication preferences, browser controls, permission revocation, parental settings and account deletion. Choosing the narrowest control that solves your concern preserves more of the games and services you still want to use.
