Which cleaning solution should you use?
Choose a formula made for portable carpet cleaners and confirmed as compatible with your Little Green model. BISSELL describes its Little Green Spot & Stain Formula as designed for portable carpet cleaners. Its general recommendation is to use BISSELL formulas for best results and machine longevity; that recommendation does not establish that every third-party formula will damage the machine, but it is not a reason to assume an unlisted formula is compatible.

How much water and formula should you add?
Use the fill markings on your own clean-water tank. The numbers below apply only to the named Cordless models—not to every Little Green machine.

What water temperature is safe?
Use warm water, not boiling water. For classic Little Green models 1400, 1425, 50Y6, 4098E, 4098N, and 1400P, BISSELL specifies warm tap water no hotter than 140°F (60°C). That temperature limit comes from the classic guide; follow your own model’s instructions if they differ.

How to fill the tank
- Check the machine’s model number and consult its manual to confirm formula compatibility and fill quantities.
- Remove the clean-water tank and add warm water to the tank’s water line. Never use boiling water.
- Add the compatible formula to the formula line. Do not substitute the Cordless amounts unless you own one of the listed Cordless models.
- Replace the tank and clean according to your machine’s instructions. For Little Green Spot & Stain Formula, BISSELL describes spraying for one pass, then making another pass with the sprayer off to recover excess moisture.
Can you clean upholstery with the Little Green?
Check the upholstery care tag before using the machine. BISSELL says fabrics marked W or WS are suitable for machine cleaning. Do not proceed on fabric marked S or “Dry Clean Only.” If the tag is missing or unclear, do not treat that as permission to wet-clean it.
When model-specific guidance matters
BISSELL’s published instructions cover distinct classic, Cordless, and Pet Pro families, and the pages do not cover every Little Green model ever sold. If your model number or desired formula is not covered, use the manual for that exact machine or confirm compatibility with BISSELL rather than relying on another family’s fill amounts or formula list.
