NVIDIA says its announced 64GB DGX Spark can support on-device models of up to 100 billion parameters. That is a vendor-stated ceiling, not a guarantee that every model at that size—or every quantization, context length, and workload—will fit or run quickly. NVIDIA names llama.cpp, Ollama, vLLM, LM Studio, and PyTorch with CUDA among the software paths for using the system.
What the 100-billion-parameter claim means
The 100B figure is NVIDIA’s stated maximum model size for the 64GB configuration. It does not describe a single guaranteed setup or performance level. A model’s memory needs depend on its representation and quantization, while runtime overhead, context or cache, and other active processes also consume memory. NVIDIA’s announcement does not provide a model-by-model benchmark or context-limit table for this configuration. NVIDIA’s announcement

In practice, check the exact model, precision or quantization, intended context, runtime, and concurrent workload together. A model that loads in one configuration may not fit with a larger context or other jobs running; fitting is also different from achieving useful speed.
What software and workloads can run
Local language-model inference
NVIDIA names llama.cpp, Ollama, vLLM, and LM Studio as inference framework options. Which model and settings are practical depends on total memory use, not just parameter count. The announcement does not establish that every model supported by these runtimes works at every size or precision on the 64GB system.

Local agents
NVIDIA presents coding and research agents that can review code, analyze documents, and handle multistep tasks as use cases. It names NVIDIA Agent Toolkit and Nemotron open models in the out-of-box software context. These are vendor-described workflows; the announcement does not provide independent reliability testing.
Language and image generation
NVIDIA says the system can host language- or image-generation models while a separate everyday PC runs the user-facing application. The 64GB announcement does not specify particular image models or quantify their performance.
Prototyping and fine-tuning
NVIDIA positions DGX Spark for prototyping, inference, and fine-tuning, and names PyTorch with CUDA and CUDA-X AI libraries. Whether a fine-tuning job fits depends on the method, model, sequence length, batch size, and memory demands. The announcement does not establish a 64GB-specific fine-tuning ceiling.

What the 64GB system is—and what not to assume
The announced configuration uses NVIDIA’s GB10 Grace Blackwell platform, DGX OS, and NVIDIA AI software stack. NVIDIA says it is planned through Acer, ASUS, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, and MSI. The announcement does not establish a 64GB-specific storage configuration or usable memory after system reservation. NVIDIA’s announcement
Do not transfer specifications from the separate 128GB Founders Edition to this configuration. NVIDIA’s general hardware guide describes that larger system as having 128GB unified memory, a 20-core Arm CPU, 273 GB/s memory bandwidth, 6,144 CUDA cores, support for models up to 200B parameters, and 1TB or 4TB storage options. Those are specifications of the guide’s 128GB system, not the announced 64GB configuration. DGX Spark hardware guide

Can two 64GB systems run a larger workload?
NVIDIA says two 64GB units can connect using NVIDIA Sync Cluster Assistant and pool memory to 128GB for workloads such as larger models, longer context, or multiple agent requests. The company reports up to 1.7× performance versus one system in its Qwen 3.8 27B test. That result is specific to NVIDIA’s named test; it is not a general speed guarantee for other models or workloads. NVIDIA’s announcement
Availability and price announced by NVIDIA
In its October 2, 2026 announcement, NVIDIA said partner availability was planned to start October 23, 2026, at a starting price of $4,999. These are announced launch details, not confirmation of current retailer stock or regional pricing. How to judge whether it fits your work
Before choosing a DGX Spark 64GB for a particular job, evaluate the complete workload rather than relying on the parameter ceiling alone:
- Inference: identify the exact model and quantization, then account for the context and runtime.
- Concurrent use: include other active models, agents, or processes in the memory picture.
- Fine-tuning: check the method, model, sequence length, and batch size against the job’s memory needs.
- Software: confirm that your intended tools and dependencies work with the system’s software environment.
- Performance: look for measurements on your intended model and workload, including latency and throughput; a model fitting does not establish that its speed will suit your use.
- System choice: when comparing alternatives, also consider storage, connectivity and scaling, noise, power, support, availability, and total price.
The available vendor material offers no independent benchmark that establishes how the 64GB DGX Spark compares in speed with other local AI systems. NVIDIA’s Founders Edition release notes list DGX OS 7.5.0, driver 580.159.03, CUDA Toolkit 13.0.2, and kernel 6.17, but caution that GB10 partner systems may not receive updates at the same time; those versions are not a guarantee for every 64GB partner SKU.
