Android’s built-in equivalent is called Motion assist. What Android Motion assist does
Apple calls its iPhone feature Vehicle Motion Cues; Google calls the Android feature Motion assist. Apple describes animated dots along the screen edges that represent vehicle movement. Its guide also explains automatic activation, Control Center access, and controls for the dots’ pattern, color, and visibility. Google’s Android instructions cover Motion assist eligibility and setup, but do not document equivalent appearance controls. How to turn on Motion assist on Android
- Open Settings and search for Motion assist.
- Alternatively, go to Settings > your profile > All services > Personal & device safety > Motion assist.
- Turn on Start in a moving vehicle if you want Motion assist to start automatically when the phone detects travel.
Google specifies Android 17 or higher and updated Google Play Services as requirements. Its instructions do not provide a model-by-model availability list, so check your own phone rather than assuming the feature is supported based on its brand or model.

If Motion assist is missing from Settings
- Check that the phone is running Android 17 or later.
- Check whether Google Play Services has an update available.
- Search Settings again for “Motion assist.” The feature’s availability can differ by device, and Google does not list supported models in the cited help page.
Third-party alternative if your phone does not have Motion assist
KineStop: Car sickness aid is listed on Google Play as an Android app that simulates a horizon and overlays cues so you can continue using other apps. Its listing says it may request Accessibility Service access to show cues over the screen, notifications, and lock screen, and that it includes in-app purchases. These are details and claims from the app listing, not independent evidence that it works or prevents motion sickness.

Use motion cues only as a passenger
These features are intended for use while riding as a passenger, not while driving. Apple warns against using Vehicle Motion Cues while operating a moving vehicle or whenever attention is needed for safety, and says the cues work best when the passenger is seated facing forward. Google likewise describes Motion assist for someone using a device as a passenger. Neither cited help page provides clinical evidence or an effectiveness statistic, so treat the feature as an aid rather than a guaranteed way to prevent or relieve motion sickness.
