For the latest ranked snapshot in the available sources, Pocket Gamer’s October 5, 2026 Waven tier list for version 0.23.7 places Flamboyant Kasai, Hioplite Paladir, Arcarius Paladir, Brutal Fairblade, and Varaclus Blade in SS. That is an editorial ranking, not an official Ankama balance list or a measured win-rate chart. Other guides place some of the same characters very differently, so use the tiers as a starting point—not a guarantee that one character will be best for every mode, build, or player.

The publisher says its SS choices perform strongly across pretty much every mode, but it does not disclose controlled testing, specific builds, player levels, or a weighting system in the accessible article text. Pocket Gamer describes Flamboyant Kasai as a damage-focused hero whose class passive adds one Sword Aura of the same element when he applies an elemental state to opponents. It also notes that characters outside the highest tiers can remain viable, with slower clearing one possible difference, and that balance updates may change placements.

Tier letters are not a shared measurement scale. Guides can differ by update date, character variant, assumptions about builds, and what they value in a fight. Do not combine their rankings as though they came from the same test.

Mobi.gg’s S tier also includes Pikuxala, Catalyser Pramium, and Buneblade; its A tier includes Arcarius Paladir, Tako, Paladir Zinetritos, Astramantis Pike, Sicarius Paladir, Surokan Shiv, and Dephasing Gem. Those entries do not map neatly to Pocket Gamer’s placements, and the lists are from different dates. Read Mobi.gg’s Waven tier list; it recommends trying classes to find one that suits you.
What a tier list can—and cannot—tell you
A tier list answers a narrower question than “Which character should I play?” It offers a guide’s view of relative strength under its own assumptions. Your results also depend on the activity, build, progression, and mechanics you prefer.

- Mode and goal: Decide whether you care about PvE, PvP, or another activity. Ankama’s factsheet identifies PvE and PvP among Waven’s modes, but a ranking does not necessarily establish that every placement performs equally in each one.
- Build and combinations: Waven involves deck building and combinations of character archetypes, spells, equipment, and companions. A character name alone does not specify the full setup being judged.
- Versatility and handling: Guidactik says its own criteria include versatility across varied fights and enjoyment. Its guide warns that class strength can be unpredictable across Waven fights and mechanics, and that classes are not ordered within tiers.
- Clear speed versus preference: Pocket Gamer says many characters remain viable, even if some clear more slowly. A lower placement is not by itself a reason to abandon a character whose mechanics you enjoy.
For context, Guidactik says its testers tried all classes mostly at level 50, with level 30 as the minimum, and used at least three builds. That is Guidactik’s stated setup—not Pocket Gamer’s methodology or a universal standard. The guide highlights Xelor Pikuxala’s teleport and placement mechanics as a strength. Pocket Gamer’s list is explicitly for version 0.23.7 and was updated October 5, 2026. Its placements should be read as a dated snapshot, not a promise about later patches. Ankama’s official Steam community update discusses planned class and spell simplification, including a common spell base, as well as planned changes to competitive modes and decks. The update describes development direction; it does not establish that those changes had shipped by October 7, 2026. Check Ankama’s Waven Steam announcements for developer updates.

Ankama describes Waven as a cross-platform tactical RPG with turn-based combat and deck building, built around characters, spells, equipment, and companions. Its factsheet puts preparation and tactics at the center: “Prepare your deck before each battle and use every ruse available to you to take home the victory!” That context helps explain why a tier placement cannot capture every player’s build or preferred approach.
