Warhammer Survivors is a standalone game—not a Vampire Survivors DLC or simple reskin. How the two games are related
Warhammer Survivors is being developed by Auroch Digital in partnership with Warhammer and poncle. Warhammer Community calls it “completely standalone”; it is a separate game, not an expansion that requires Vampire Survivors. The connection is the survivors-style genre and the partnership, not a shared game installation or DLC relationship. Warhammer Community’s announcement describes the project as combining that genre’s gameplay with the worlds of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Vampire Survivors is poncle’s own gothic-horror game. Steam describes it as “a time survival game with minimalistic gameplay and roguelite elements.” It was released on Steam on October 20, 2022. Steam’s listing identifies poncle as its developer and publisher.

Worlds, characters, and enemies
Warhammer Survivors draws from two Warhammer settings
Its announced roster and enemies span both Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar. Revealed examples include Malum Caedo, Morvenn Vahl, and Neave Blacktalon, alongside enemies such as Tyranids, Skaven, and Orks. That gives the game a broad Warhammer setting rather than limiting it to one faction or era. Vampire Survivors has its own gothic-horror fiction
Vampire Survivors is built around a gothic-horror setting and waves of night creatures, not the Warhammer universes. The contrast in fiction and cast is the clearest confirmed difference between the games; official descriptions alone do not establish how their difficulty, balance, run length, or moment-to-moment feel compare.

What the gameplay loop shares—and what is distinct
Both games center on surviving enemy crowds while strengthening a character through a run, with progression that helps unlock more content over time. That shared structure explains the comparison, but it does not mean the games have identical combat, pacing, or balance.

Release date, demo, and platforms
Warhammer Survivors is scheduled to launch November 10, 2026. In its October 6, 2026 update, Warhammer Community said a demo was available on Steam and Xbox for PC, with two playable heroes: the Legend of Catachan and Lyssa Revenya. Auroch Digital lists PC (Steam and GOG), Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and mobile (iOS and Android). Platform listings do not establish that every version will be available on the same date or in every territory; check the relevant store for current availability.
Vampire Survivors is already released on Steam and Nintendo Switch, among other platform announcements on poncle’s official site. Its Nintendo listing dates the Switch version to August 17, 2023. Those dates make the release-state difference clear: Warhammer Survivors is still upcoming, while Vampire Survivors is an existing game.

Does Warhammer Survivors have co-op?
The official Warhammer sources cited here do not confirm whether Warhammer Survivors supports co-op, so its multiplayer status should be treated as unknown rather than assumed to match Vampire Survivors. For Vampire Survivors, Steam lists online co-op, and Nintendo specifies one-to-four-player local co-op on Switch. The Nintendo listing says the whole game supports that couch co-op mode.

If the Warhammer settings and characters are the draw, Warhammer Survivors is the relevant upcoming standalone game; its demo is available on Steam and Xbox for PC according to the October 6, 2026 publisher update. If you want a released gothic-horror survivors game, Vampire Survivors is the established option. There is not enough official information to call one easier, better balanced, or more enjoyable, and a fair comparison of feel requires playing them.
