The Samsung Galaxy M17 5G offers a Super AMOLED display, optical image stabilization (OIS) on its rear camera and a longer manufacturer-stated software-support horizon. At launch in India, the matching 6GB/128GB versions were both ₹13,999; the 8GB/128GB T4x was ₹500 cheaper than the M17. Those are historical launch prices, not confirmed current deals.

Price difference in India
The launch prices below are historical figures announced by the manufacturers in 2025. The ₹12,499 M17 base-variant price was a net launch price inclusive of a special offer; vivo’s launch announcement also described a limited launch-period bank discount. What the display and performance specifications mean
120Hz LCD or 90Hz Super AMOLED
The T4x lists the higher refresh rate, which can make supported scrolling and animation look smoother. The M17 uses Super AMOLED, a different display technology that some buyers may prefer for its screen characteristics. Choose based on whether refresh rate or panel type matters more to you; the manufacturers’ brightness figures use specified modes and are not directly comparable independent measurements.
Dimensity 7300 or Exynos 1330
vivo names the Dimensity 7300 5G, while Samsung names the Exynos 1330. These published specifications do not establish which phone is faster in everyday use, gaming or sustained workloads. No independent head-to-head performance testing is available here, so avoid treating a processor name or vendor performance claim as a measured verdict.

Battery, cameras and durability
Battery capacity and charging
The T4x lists a 6500mAh typical capacity, compared with 5000mAh typical for the M17, and supports up to 44W charging versus 25W. vivo lists a charger in the box; Samsung sells its 25W charger separately. Capacity and charging wattage alone do not establish real-world battery life or charging time, which can vary with usage and conditions.

Rear and selfie cameras
Samsung lists OIS on the M17’s rear camera system; vivo’s T4x specification page lists no OIS and describes a 50MP main camera with a 2MP bokeh sensor. Samsung also lists a 13MP front camera against vivo’s 8MP. These specifications identify hardware differences, not which phone takes better photos: megapixel counts alone do not determine image quality.

Water and dust protection
The listed ratings are IP64 for the T4x and IP54 for the M17. Neither rating means waterproof. vivo warns that splash and water resistance may diminish with wear; Samsung says resistance is not permanent and advises against beach or pool use. Follow the manufacturers’ handling guidance rather than treating either phone as suitable for submersion.
Software support and storage choices
Samsung announced six OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the M17. Its product page lists security updates through September 30, 2031, but says software details reflect current plans and are not a commitment. vivo launched the T4x with Android 15 and Funtouch OS 15, announcing two Android updates and three years of security patches. The published schedules favor Samsung for stated support duration; they do not promise specific rollout dates.

The T4x is listed in an 8GB/256GB configuration, while Samsung’s launch announcement lists up to 8GB/128GB. Samsung’s specification page for the 4GB/128GB variant lists microSD support up to 2TB and a hybrid SIM slot. Confirm the exact regional model and slot arrangement if using two SIMs and a memory card is important.
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the vivo T4x on published specifications if you want a 120Hz refresh rate, larger stated battery, up to 44W charging, the named Dimensity 7300 processor or a listed 256GB storage tier.
- Choose the Samsung Galaxy M17 on published specifications if you prefer Super AMOLED, want rear-camera OIS, value its listed 13MP selfie camera or microSD option, or prioritize Samsung’s longer stated software-support horizon.
- Compare exact variants before buying. Match RAM and storage, then check the current checkout price, stock, delivery, warranty, bank offers and included accessories. The launch-price parity at 6GB/128GB does not guarantee today’s prices are equal.
