Valve announced Steam Frame in 256GB and 1TB versions, with reported US launch prices of $1,059 and $1,299, respectively. The initial reservation window ran September 14–17, 2026, and has ended; the cited information does not establish whether Valve has reopened sign-ups or has stock available now. Steam Frame price by storage tier
Road to VR reported the following launch prices on September 14, 2026. The headset prices were reported as inclusive of VAT where applicable; current prices, taxes, shipping charges, and availability may differ.

| Storage | United States | Canada | Euro area | United Kingdom | Australia | Poland |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 256GB | USD 1,059 | CAD 1,529 | EUR 1,049 | GBP 889 | AUD 1,609 | PLN 4,539 |
| 1TB | USD 1,299 | CAD 1,859 | EUR 1,279 | GBP 1,089 | AUD 1,969 | PLN 5,549 |
The 1TB model costs more for additional storage. The cited announcement does not establish a performance difference between the two tiers, so buyers should compare them on capacity and the current regional price rather than assume the higher-storage model is faster.
When Steam Frame comes out—and whether reservations are open
The September 14 announcement described a limited-drop reservation process, not a currently open pre-order. Registration for that initial drop ran from September 14 through September 17, 2026, ending at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Valve’s terms said the first purchase emails would begin September 18; purchase links expired 72 hours after they were sent. Those dates have passed. The cited sources do not confirm a general release date, a new registration window, or present stock.

Road to VR reported that sign-ups for the limited initial supply would be randomized to determine allocation, with participants then emailed if assigned a reservation or waitlist place. That describes the September process only. Check Valve’s live Steam hardware page before relying on any claim that reservations or sales are open.
Who qualified for the initial reservation process
Valve’s published terms for the September 2026 drop set eligibility requirements. Participants had to be legal residents of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, an EU member state, or Australia; be at least 18; have an unlimited Steam account in good standing; and have made a Steam purchase before April 27, 2026. These were rules for that specific process, not confirmation of eligibility for any future sale. What Valve says Steam Frame can do
Road to VR’s September 14 launch report described Steam Frame as a standalone headset built around a Snapdragon Series 8 Gen 3 mobile chipset. It said the device supports standalone play for optimized VR games and much of Steam’s flatscreen library, and can stream PC content through an included wireless adapter. These are reported product capabilities, not independent hands-on test results. Valve’s Steam Hardware page presents Steam Frame as part of its SteamOS hardware lineup and emphasizes an open-PC approach.

How to decide between the models and accessories
- Choose by storage: compare the 256GB and 1TB capacities against the current regional price. The cited material does not establish a performance advantage for either tier.
- Consider the Ergonomic Accessories Kit if the extra controller straps, battery doors, top strap, or extended light blocker address a fit or comfort need.
- Consider the Accessory Replacement Kit if you need replacement face- or head-contact parts or a light blocker.
- Check the power-supply bundle: the accessory was listed separately, but bundling in any current product offer is unconfirmed.
- Verify before paying: confirm live pricing, taxes, shipping, availability, reservation instructions, and included items on Valve’s store page.
