What does a Valorant hardware ban track?
Riot’s Privacy Notice, last modified April 28, 2026, describes information categories that may be processed across Riot Services. These include identifiers such as IP addresses and unique device IDs; electronic network activity; and computer or device information such as processing capabilities, manufacturer and model, language and regional settings, screen resolution, operating-system name and version, and connection details. That is a broad, service-wide privacy disclosure—not a component-by-component specification of Vanguard’s hardware-ban system. It does not say which data points are used to apply a VALORANT hardware ban, how they are combined, or how long any device association is retained. So it would go beyond what Riot has publicly stated to claim that Vanguard uses a particular motherboard, drive, network-adapter, or BIOS serial number for ban matching.

What Vanguard may collect and do
Riot says it may use anti-cheat and fraud-prevention technologies, including anti-cheat software that may run in the background of a device. Its notice says these technologies may make automated decisions, including temporary or permanent account suspensions, communication restrictions, content removal, or limited access to game content. Security checks are not the same as hardware-ban identifiers
Riot’s May 31, 2026 system-requirements article says Vanguard may require Windows security features before a Riot game launches or during a pre-launch check, depending on the PC’s configuration. The features named include TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, Memory Integrity (HVCI/VBS), and IOMMU. Riot directs users to the Vanguard tray icon for relevant troubleshooting guidance. Those checks establish whether certain security settings are enabled; Riot’s article does not describe them as the identifiers used to match a hardware ban. A requirement to enable a feature to launch the game should not be treated as proof that the feature—or its status—is a ban fingerprint.

What happens after an anti-cheat decision?
Riot’s notice says its complaints procedure may allow you to appeal a decision
. It says an agent then makes a final manual determination based on the available evidence. The qualified wording matters: the public notice does not promise that every hardware ban is eligible for review or will be reversed. Riot Games Privacy Notice

What Riot’s public sources do not specify
- The precise identifiers or component data used to match a hardware ban.
- How Vanguard combines signals or how long a device association lasts.
- The ban duration or whether it affects every Riot account used on a device.
- Whether replacing a component, reinstalling Windows, or making another PC change alters a ban.
Without a direct Riot statement addressing those details, claims about a fixed duration, automatic effects on every account, or a hardware-change remedy are not established by the cited public materials.
