To reduce shake in handheld iPhone video, open Camera, switch to Video, tap Camera Controls, and choose Action. Action mode is built into supported iPhones, needs no accessory, and is intended to stabilize moving footage. It works best in bright light and records at up to 2.8K, so it may not suit every lighting or resolution need.
Turn on Action mode

Open the Camera app and select Video.

Tap Camera Controls, then tap Action.

Frame your subject and start recording. To turn the feature off, tap the on-screen Action Mode On control.

On devices that offer the setting, go to Settings > Camera > Indicators and enable Action Mode. This makes the control available on the camera screen. Labels and availability can vary by device. Apple’s Camera guide

What to expect in dim light
Apple’s guidance is direct: “Action mode works best in bright light.” On supported models, you can try the lower-light option at Settings > Camera > Record Video > Action Mode Lower Light. It may help when recording in less light, but Apple does not promise the same stabilization result across lighting conditions or movements. Apple’s video recording settings guide
Choose between Action mode, standard video, and a tripod

The 2.8K ceiling is stated in Apple’s general guidance. The two model specifications illustrate that supported frame rates and formats differ; they are not a complete device-by-device compatibility list. Apple does not publish a numeric measure of Action mode’s stabilization strength or an exact cropping amount in these cited guides, so neither can be used to predict how a particular shot will look.

Action is missing: Look in Camera Controls while Video is selected, then check whether your device offers Action Mode under Settings > Camera > Indicators.

Footage still looks shaky: Add light where possible and adjust how you hold or move the phone. Apple says the mode works best in bright light, but does not guarantee shake-free footage.
