First identify the exact model, then follow its instructions: the Command Bar can check for an over-the-air update after a power cycle, while the Signa S3 updates automatically over Wi-Fi in standby. Polk’s React manual does not document an update procedure, so React owners should confirm the steps with Polk rather than borrowing another model’s instructions.
Identify your Polk soundbar model first
Check the model name on the soundbar’s label, packaging, or product registration. Then open Polk Product Support and search for that exact model. Review its current FAQ and manual before trying an update; instructions for one model may not apply to another.

Polk Command Bar
- Make sure the soundbar is connected to the internet.
- Unplug its power cord and wait 10 seconds.
- Reconnect power and let the soundbar check for an available update. Polk describes Command Bar firmware as periodically pushed over the air by Amazon.
These steps are specific to the Command Bar. Polk’s guidance does not establish this power-cycle procedure as a universal update method for every Polk soundbar.

Polk Signa S3
- Install Google Home on an iOS or Android device and use it to connect the Signa S3 to Wi-Fi.
- Leave the soundbar in normal standby. Its automatic software update is performed at night while in standby.
- Avoid deep standby when expecting an automatic update; the Signa S3 guide says automatic updating is disabled in that mode.
Polk React and other models
The reviewed React owner’s manual covers setup, troubleshooting, and factory reset, but does not give a firmware-update sequence. Do not treat a factory reset as an update or try undocumented button combinations. Look up the exact model in Polk Product Support and ask Polk for current model-specific instructions if none are provided. Apply the same caution to any other Polk model without a documented update procedure.

- Confirm the model. Make sure the instructions match the name on your soundbar, not just its appearance or product family.
- Check the relevant connection. The Command Bar instructions require the bar to be online; the Signa S3 update route requires Wi-Fi configured through Google Home.
- Check standby mode on Signa S3. Automatic updating is disabled in deep standby.
- Use model-specific support. Search Polk’s product FAQs and manual, or use the support page’s contact or authorized service-center options if you still need help.
For React troubleshooting, Polk’s manual advises checking connections, following the manual’s operating instructions, and verifying that connected devices work correctly. If the problem is not covered, it recommends contacting the dealer. Disconnect power immediately if you suspect a fault. These are troubleshooting recommendations, not firmware-update steps.
