If Google Meet blur is not working with your Logitech webcam, first identify which blur problem you have: Meet’s background blur may be missing or ineffective, or the camera image itself may be out of focus. Meet background blur is a software effect; a blurry camera feed is a separate camera, permission, connection, or performance issue. Follow the matching steps below.
Turn on background blur in Google Meet
On a desktop, you can apply blur before joining or while a meeting is underway. Google’s interface may show the controls as Backgrounds and effects or within video settings.

- Before joining: Open the meeting and use the background or effects control beneath your self-view.
- During a meeting: Open the background/effects panel or video settings.
- Select Blur. If available, choose slight blur for a less pronounced effect. Use the remove-effects control if you want to return to the unaltered background.
These controls apply a Meet effect; they do not adjust the Logitech camera’s focus. See Google’s instructions for changing backgrounds and effects in Meet on a computer.

Google says effects availability depends on the client type, account type, and settings controlled by Workspace administrators. Google’s guidance states: “The availability of backgrounds, filters, and styles are subject to client type, account type, and settings set by Google Workspace admins.” The page does not state a publication date.

- Check whether you are using a desktop client supported for the effect.
- If this is a work or school account, ask the Workspace administrator whether backgrounds and effects are allowed.
- If the control appears but the effect does not apply, continue with the device and performance checks below.
Buying another webcam is not an established way to make a missing Meet effect appear: eligibility and administrator policy can determine whether the control is available.
If the Logitech camera image itself is blurry
Confirm Meet is using the Logitech camera
In Meet’s video settings, select the Logitech device rather than a built-in or other connected camera. If the wrong camera is selected, changing background effects will not fix the underlying image.

Check camera permissions and competing apps
- Confirm that both your browser and operating system are allowed to access the camera.
- Close other apps that may be using the webcam, then reload Meet.
- Test the camera in another camera app. If the image is blurry there too, the problem is not limited to Meet.
Google provides camera, microphone, and speaker troubleshooting for Meet and guidance for fixing video and audio quality issues.

For a USB webcam, Logitech recommends connecting it directly to the computer rather than through a hub or extender. Disconnect and reconnect it, try another USB port, and test it in another app. If possible, test it on another computer. These checks help distinguish a connection or device issue from a Meet-specific problem. See Logitech’s webcam troubleshooting guidance.

When blur is slow or unavailable on a capable setup
Meet effects can affect device performance, and Google says Meet uses the GPU for visual effects. That makes performance worth checking, but it does not establish the cause of an individual failure.
- Update your browser and close unused tabs and applications.
- Review Google’s device and browser requirements for Google Meet.
- Check Google’s video quality troubleshooting guidance, including its WebGL information.
What Logitech software can—and cannot—do
Logi Tune provides settings for supported Logitech webcams. Use it for camera controls where your model is supported, but do not treat it as a way to enable Google Meet background blur: Logitech’s software guidance does not say it unlocks Meet effects. The blur control belongs to Meet’s effects interface.

If the camera remains blurry in other apps or on another computer after checking permissions and connections, the evidence points more toward a camera or hardware problem. Consider Logitech support or a replacement only after those checks; the available guidance does not establish a particular Logitech model as necessary for Meet blur. For supported-camera controls, see Logi Tune.
