The official materials confirm local play, but do not document the current in-game steps for adding players or which keyboards and controllers work. Check the prompts and device compatibility in your current build before you gather the group.
How do you play Unrivaled Heroes with friends?
Play together locally: the official Steam community page describes local co-op for up to four players, and the developer and publisher reiterated that limit in a June 2025 announcement. The announcement does not give a menu path or button prompts, so use the instructions shown in your installed version rather than relying on guessed controls.

Check players and input devices
- Open the game’s current menus and follow the on-screen prompt for joining or adding players.
- Confirm that each player’s intended keyboard or controller is recognized. The official material reviewed does not specify supported devices or whether mixed keyboard-and-controller play is available.
- If a device is not detected, check the game’s current settings and Steam’s controller configuration before assuming that the game supports that input arrangement.
What the game confirms about co-op
The official announcement describes teamwork as important as battles intensify, specifically encouraging players to strategize and combine their powers. It also says the game has “10+ unique characters to unlock” and that bosses appear at the end of each domain. Those details support planning as a team, but the announcement does not identify character roles, strongest pairings, specific combos, or boss mechanics.
How to coordinate your team
Agree on priorities during a fight
Before a wave gets hectic, agree on who will focus on the immediate threat and who will watch for other enemies or help a teammate under pressure. Keep track of where the group is on screen so players can respond to one another. These are general teamwork suggestions, not confirmed special commands or role mechanics.

- 65 plus DETAILED MINIATURES: This semi-cooperative board game includes highly detailed miniature figures on 25mm bases, and detailed furniture models for an immersive gaming experience
- LIMITLESS REPLAYABILITY: This HeroQuest tabletop board game is for 2-5 players, ages 14 and up. The game comes with 14 quests, and players can also create their own stories and build their own quests
Use character abilities with a shared purpose
Because the announcement explicitly encourages players to combine powers, try communicating before using abilities: decide whether the group needs to handle a dangerous enemy, relieve pressure, or help one another survive the current fight. Learn what your chosen character can do in play, then adapt the plan to what the group observes. The available official information does not establish particular ability effects, cooldowns, or optimal combinations.
Talk before a domain-ending boss
The official announcement places a boss at the end of each domain. Before that encounter, take a moment to agree on how to respond to enemy pressure and when to use abilities together. Adjust based on what you see in the fight; no specific boss phases, vulnerabilities, or attack patterns are established in the official material cited here.

Choose characters by feel, then adjust
With more than 10 characters to unlock, friends can try characters whose abilities seem complementary to their play styles. Treat that as an experiment, not a prescribed “best” team: the announcement gives no roster breakdown, character stats, or ranked combinations.
Can you play Unrivaled Heroes remotely?
The title-specific material reviewed confirms local co-op, not online co-op or Steam Remote Play Together support. Steam’s Remote Play Together documentation explains that, for games that support the feature, invited friends can join as though playing at the same computer and only the host needs to own and install the game. That platform feature description does not confirm that Unrivaled Heroes supports it. Check the current Steam store listing for Remote Play Together before planning a remote session.
