It is a less certain pick if story depth or consistently strong level design matters most: one PC Gamer review praised the combat but criticized the story and parts of the level design. What is the PC version, and when did it release?
Stellar Blade is a single-player, third-person action-adventure available on Steam. Steam lists June 11, 2025 as the PC release date; Shift Up’s second-quarter 2025 results presentation records the PC launch as June 12, so the two sources differ by a day. The Steam listing describes fast-paced melee combat and also identifies weapons such as machine guns and laser blasters. It flags violence and revealing costumes in its content notice. Combat is the strongest reason to buy, based on PC Gamer reviewer Mollie Taylor’s assessment of the PC build. Enemies use varied attack patterns, and learning when to dodge or parry can create openings for counterattacks. The payoff is deliberate: you study a foe, time your defense, then answer with attacks rather than simply holding down an attack button. PC Gamer review

- Experience the acclaimed PlayStation5 hit Stellar Blade from Korean developers SHIFT UP, now optimized for PC.
- The future of humanity is balanced on the edge of a blade. Ravaged by strange, powerful creatures, Earth has been abandoned, and what is left of the decimated human race has fled to a Colony in outer space.
- Engage in blisteringly fast combat as you slash a path through the remnants of Earth. Unleash graceful yet brutal attacking combos, unlock new moves and weapon upgrades, and face epic boss encounters that will challenge both brain and brawn in equal measure.
- Become immersed in a highly detailed post-apocalyptic world that blends beauty and horror to spectacular effect.
That rhythm has a learning curve. Taylor noted that Eve has fewer tools early on, while also pointing to adjustable difficulty and an optional on-screen timing aid. If you enjoy sharpening your timing and adapting to enemy patterns, the defensive demands can make encounters satisfying. If missed parries and dodges feel like friction rather than a challenge, the same design may frustrate you. Steam includes a Souls-like tag, but Taylor describes a mix of Soulslike and stylish-action influences; it is more useful to expect timing-based action than to treat the label as a complete description.
Is the exploration good?
The official store description places the adventure amid Earth’s post-apocalyptic ruins, with EVE exploring science-fiction environments while fighting the Naytiba and uncovering the past. That supports expecting varied ruined-world settings as part of the adventure, not a fully open-world game. Steam listing

Exploration is not an unqualified strength in the cited PC review. Taylor criticized some level design, particularly in the opening hours, so striking environments do not guarantee that every area or route feels equally engaging. If you mainly want environmental discovery and a consistent sense of place, weigh that criticism alongside the setting’s visual appeal.
How strong are the story and characters?
The premise is post-apocalyptic, but the cited PC Gamer review found the story and worldbuilding to be weaker than the action. Taylor also felt the lead characters did not develop enough rapport. Those are one reviewer’s judgments, not a measured consensus, but they matter if narrative depth is your main reason for playing: the available review evidence makes the story a more cautious recommendation than the combat.

Yes. Shift Up announced New Game Plus for the game’s April 26, 2024 launch, with expanded gear levels, new skills, and additional costumes. The developer’s PlayStation Blog post lists 34 new Eve outfits, as well as accessories and cosmetics for Adam, Lily, and the Drone. Shift Up announcement on PlayStation Blog

Who should buy it on PC?
| It is a stronger fit if you… | Think twice if you… |
|---|---|
| Want melee encounters built around reading attack patterns, dodges, parries, and counterattacks. | Dislike timing-sensitive defense or do not want to spend time adjusting to combat. |
| Enjoy exploring a science-fiction setting shaped by post-apocalyptic ruins, with the caveat that level design was uneven for one reviewer. | Expect a fully open world or consistently excellent level design. |
| Value a post-game run with extra progression, skills, and cosmetics. | Primarily want a deep story and strongly developed character relationships. |
| Have a PC that meets the current official requirements and want its advertised display and graphics options. | Are close to the listed baseline GPU tier and have not checked the live requirements for your setup. |
For PC play, Steam says combat sensations are enriched by DualSense controller vibration. That is an optional feature, not a requirement or evidence of a performance advantage. The PC Gamer review page identifies its reviewed PC build as Steam Deck Verified, but that portability label does not indicate how much replay content the game offers. Steam listing · PC Gamer review
