UI Screen Context is a native macOS app from Behavio that records a person pointing at interface elements and describing a change aloud, then packages screenshots, pointer events, timing, and a transcript for a coding-agent handoff. It is intended to give an agent more to work from than a screenshot and a short sentence—not to guarantee a better code change.
What UI Screen Context captures
Behavio describes the app as following the active window while you work. It can collect screenshots and window timing, record pointer activity, and transcribe speech locally on the Mac. The resulting context folder is structured for review and handoff; raw audio and video are not included.

The announcement says the handoff can include recorded windows and their timing, pointer events, a text target when one can be confirmed, suggested evidence images, the original transcript and spoken language, and stated limits where capture cannot establish something. What is in the handoff
context.md, which summarizes the recorded context for the agent.- A manifest timeline and a transcript.
- Recommended evidence images and additional images available on demand.
- No raw audio or video files.
The local image references are not automatically attached to a remote agent. The receiving agent must be able to access the files, or you must attach the images separately. A pasted context note alone may therefore omit the visual evidence it refers to.

How to record and hand off a UI change
- Bring the target window forward. Review and grant the permissions needed for the capture features you plan to use.
- Choose the inputs. Select a microphone if you want spoken feedback, a spoken language, and a local speech engine. You can record visual-only context without microphone access.
- Start recording, then show and explain the change. Point, speak, pause, click, or scroll as relevant to the issue. Make the requested change explicit in your own words; the recording supplies evidence, not necessarily the reason behind a request.
- Stop and inspect the result. Review the saved context in the app, including the transcript and referenced frames, especially if a phrase or target is ambiguous.
- Give the context to your agent. Paste the copied context and ensure the agent can read the referenced local files, or attach the images separately.

Requirements, permissions, and local processing
The project README lists macOS 15 or newer. Screen Recording permission is required to capture windows. Other permissions depend on what you use:

- Microphone: needed for spoken feedback; leave it off for visual-only context.
- Speech Recognition: required for Apple’s on-device recognition, which also needs an available offline language model. The local Whisper option does not require Speech Recognition permission.
- Input Monitoring: recommended for pointer evidence. Without it, pointer-event coverage may be incomplete.
Accessibility, Full Disk Access, and Camera access are not required for the described workflow. The README says Apple recognition and Whisper run on-device and that recordings, transcripts, screenshots, and analytics are not uploaded. Model downloads are explicit: it lists Whisper Small at about 488 MB and Whisper Large v3 Turbo at about 1.63 GB. Those are digital model-weight downloads, so consider available storage and network access before choosing one. [Project README]
Where the evidence can fall short
The capture is a record of observed context, not proof of every interaction or intent. Behavio cautions that “A frame held during a transition is not proof that the UI changed.” A brief visit to a window or a gap in the capture should not be treated as continuous interaction. Pointer position and OCR associations also cannot prove which element the person meant.

Speech recognition can make mistakes, including on short phrases. Check the transcript and referenced frames before asking an agent to make an ambiguous change. If an instruction depends on why a behavior exists, say that reason directly: a reader responding to Behavio’s announcement noted that evidence of what changed may omit why the change was requested, such as preserving an accessibility workaround. Behavio presents the app for designers, developers, and QA practitioners who need to show changes across real interfaces; the repository also describes bug reproduction. It is most relevant when a visual interaction is difficult to communicate with text alone and the receiving agent can use the resulting local evidence.

- Decide whether you can grant Screen Recording and, if needed, Microphone, Speech Recognition, or Input Monitoring permissions.
- Check that the selected local speech model’s download fits your storage and connectivity constraints.
- Verify how your coding agent will receive local images: direct file access or separate attachments.
- Inspect whether the captured evidence is sufficient for the particular change or bug; it does not replace a clear statement of intent.
