Choose based on your exact device and charging setup, not the brand name or headline wattage. Apple’s USB-C Power Delivery guidance allows third-party adapters for USB-C-charging Macs, while UGREEN’s Nexode Pro is a family of chargers with different wattages and port layouts. An Apple adapter is the straightforward match for a specific Mac; a multi-port Nexode Pro may suit someone charging several devices from one brick, provided its per-port output meets their needs.
What is the difference between Nexode Pro and Apple adapters?
They are not directly comparable as single products. Apple lists adapters for particular Mac models and charging combinations. “Nexode Pro” covers multiple UGREEN chargers: UGREEN Canada lists 65W, 100W, and 160W desktop variants, while its US listing describes a 100W model with two USB-C ports and one USB-A port. Wattage, port count, dimensions, and weight vary by model and region, so check the exact SKU rather than assuming every Nexode Pro has the same features. Can you use a UGREEN charger with a MacBook?
Yes, if it is a USB-C Power Delivery adapter compatible with the Mac’s charging requirements. Apple says a USB-C-charging Mac can use any USB-C power adapter or display that supports USB PD, including one with higher or lower wattage than the recommended adapter. Apple recommends at least the wattage specified for the particular Mac for the best charging experience. (Apple: Use a power adapter with your Mac)
That guidance does not verify a particular UGREEN unit’s certification or performance. Apple says third-party adapters or displays should comply with applicable international and regional regulations and safety standards. Check the specifications and compliance information for the exact charger you plan to buy.

How much wattage does your Mac need?
Apple’s recommended wattage depends on the Mac model and generation. Its guidance includes examples from 20W for MacBook Neo through 30W, 35W dual-port, 67W, 70W, 96W, and 140W adapters for specified Mac families. Identify your exact Mac before choosing a charger, then use Apple’s model-specific recommendation as your baseline. (Apple: Use a power adapter with your Mac)
A higher-wattage adapter is not automatically a faster-charging solution. Apple permits USB-C adapters with higher or lower wattage, but its fast-charge claims apply to named devices and combinations, not to wattage alone.

What to check if you want one charger for several devices
A multi-port charger can reduce the number of bricks you carry, but total output is not the same as the power available from each port while several devices are connected. For the exact Nexode Pro model, check the port-by-port output and the power-sharing table for simultaneous use. UGREEN’s 100W listing establishes a 100W total-output, three-port configuration; that figure should not be read as 100W from every port at once. (UGREEN US 100W product listing)

- Ports and cables: Match the available USB-C or USB-A ports to your devices and cables, and check each port’s output rather than relying on the total wattage.
- Travel: UGREEN Canada lists 100–240V input for its listed desktop models. Confirm the input range and plug type for the specific regional SKU you are considering. (UGREEN Canada Nexode Pro family)
What about fast charging?
Fast charging depends on the device, adapter, cable, and supported charging combination. Apple says compatible MacBook Air models introduced in 2022 or later and 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models introduced in 2021 or later can charge to up to 50 percent in around 30 minutes with its listed combinations. Apple describes this as a manufacturer test result; it is not a promise for every charger, cable, Mac, or charging condition. Use Apple’s named combinations rather than inferring a charging time from a charger’s wattage. (Apple: Fast charge your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro)

For iPhone, Apple says iPhone 12, iPhone SE (3rd generation), and later require an adapter with at least 20W for fast charging. Apple allows third-party adapters that comply with relevant regulations and safety standards. A phone-only buyer generally has no reason to pay for laptop-level wattage unless they want extra ports or expect to charge a laptop later. (Apple: Fast charge your iPhone)
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which one should you buy?
- Choose an Apple adapter if you want a simple, documented pairing for a particular Mac and prefer to follow Apple’s model-specific recommendation.
- Consider a Nexode Pro if you want one charger for multiple devices. Compare the exact regional model’s wattage, ports, and simultaneous power distribution with the needs of your devices.
- For a MacBook Air or Pro, start with Apple’s recommended wattage for your exact model. A third-party USB-PD charger is an option when it meets that power need.
- For a phone alone, meet the phone’s adapter requirement; extra laptop wattage only matters if you value the added ports or plan to charge a laptop.
There is no evidence here for a universal winner on speed, temperature, efficiency, safety, reliability, or value. Choose by verified compatibility and the features of the specific adapter, not a brand-wide claim.
