The UAE PlayStation Store is scheduled to move from US dollars to UAE dirhams during maintenance from 5 to 8 October 2026. Sony says purchases will be unavailable while the Store is offline. Existing wallet balances convert at Sony’s stated rate of US$1 to AED 4.00, but that rate does not establish what games will cost in AED after the change.
When will the UAE PlayStation Store be unavailable?
Sony’s currency-change guide lists UAE maintenance from 5 October through 8 October 2026. During the work, the Store will be temporarily offline in affected countries and purchases cannot be made. Sony says users can shop again with the payment methods available in their country after the updates finish; it does not give a precise time when every Store function will be restored.

For eFootball, Konami separately lists a UAE PlayStation Store content-acquisition suspension from 5 October 2026 at 13:00 UTC until 8 October 2026 at 00:00 UTC. That is the stated window for acquiring that game’s content, not a confirmed reopening time for the entire Store. Konami’s notice provides the game-specific timing.

Existing wallet balance
Sony states that UAE wallet funds will convert at US$1 = AED 4.00. The resulting amount will be rounded to the nearest decimal value supported in the country. This is a wallet-balance conversion formula, not a promise that every game or add-on will be priced at its previous US-dollar price multiplied by four.

US-dollar PlayStation gift cards
Sony says existing US-dollar PlayStation gift cards remain valid. If redeemed on the date maintenance is completed or later, their value converts to local currency using the same formula as wallet balances. Sony’s guidance does not verify the availability or terms of any particular retailer’s card listing, or whether a specific card is compatible with an account’s region.
Will games cost more after the change?
Sony’s notice explains wallet conversion, but it does not announce future AED prices for individual games, add-ons, or subscriptions. The wallet rate alone cannot show whether a title’s AED price will match, exceed, or fall below its previous USD price converted at that rate. Check the UAE Store listing after service resumes for the price of a specific item.

What happens to subscriptions and family settings?
Subscription payments due during maintenance
If a subscription payment date falls during the maintenance period, Sony says the subscription will stay active during the transition and the payment will be charged after maintenance is complete. The notice does not specify future AED subscription prices.
Child-account spending limits
If you previously set a monthly spending limit for a child account, Sony says you will need to set it again after the change.

What changes for PlayStation 3 purchases?
After maintenance, purchases through the UAE PlayStation 3 Store will no longer be possible, according to Sony. Its notice does not say that existing purchases or downloads will become inaccessible, so the purchasing change should not be read as a statement about access to content already acquired.

Sony’s currency-change guide says promotions will be stopped briefly and gives 23 September 2026 as an expected return date. That date comes before the UAE’s 5–8 October maintenance window, so it is not a confirmed UAE post-maintenance return date. The guide does not provide a clear updated UAE date for promotions.
