You can use Make to connect a time-tracking service with other apps and automate time-entry workflows. Make’s documented integrations for TrackingTime and Timing offer different modules: TrackingTime focuses on creating and finding entries and working with customers, projects, and tasks, while Timing also documents start- and stop-timer actions. Choose based on the workflow you need, then verify the current module and connection instructions in the service’s documentation.
How does time tracking work in Make?
Make scenarios exchange data between connected apps. A time-tracking workflow typically links a time tracker with another app that supplies an event or information, then maps the relevant fields between modules. For example, Make’s integration listings describe use cases such as turning calendar events into time entries, exporting timesheets, syncing tracked data, and sending workflow notifications. These are examples, not guarantees that a particular scenario will work unchanged: available fields, permissions, and connected apps affect what you can build. Make explains how app connections work.

Which time tracker should you connect?
Make’s documentation describes integrations for both TrackingTime and Timing. The available module sets differ, so compare them against the actions your scenario needs rather than assuming the services are interchangeable.

Can Make automatically create time entries?
TrackingTime’s documented modules include adding time entries, and Timing’s documentation also lists time-entry actions. A scenario can therefore be designed to create entries from data or events in another connected app, subject to the fields and permissions available for your accounts. Make’s integration listings give examples including turning calendar events into time entries and syncing tracked data: TrackingTime integration examples and Timing integration examples.
Before relying on an automated entry, decide how your workflow should handle project and task matching, dates, duration, and descriptions. Also plan what should happen if an entry is duplicated, edited, or deleted; the reviewed documentation does not establish one universal behavior for those cases.

Can Make start or stop a timer?
Timing’s Make documentation lists start- and stop-timer modules, so those controls are available as documented workflow options. TrackingTime’s listed capabilities emphasize creating and searching time entries and working with related records; its documentation does not establish the same start/stop timer module set. Check the current module documentation before designing around a particular timer action.

- Choose the workflow. Identify which app provides the trigger or source data and which app should receive or update time-tracking information.
- Check the tracker’s Make documentation. Confirm that the modules you need are currently listed, and note its connection requirements.
- Create the connection in Make. Add the relevant app connection to your scenario and follow that service’s current authentication steps. Make notes that connection requirements vary by service; TrackingTime’s documentation describes an app password, while Timing’s describes an API key.
- Map the fields. Match the available project, task, date, duration, and description data between the scenario’s modules. The exact fields depend on the apps and modules you connect.
- Test a small, reversible example. Confirm the result in the time tracker before using the workflow operationally, then check that the scenario’s handling of errors and duplicate or changed records matches your needs.
Make’s connection guidance explains that setup depends on the connected service’s authentication method and may involve credentials such as API keys or client details. Its documentation also advises confirming instructions with the relevant vendor, because documentation can contain errors. Start with Make’s connection guidance and the current TrackingTime or Timing instructions.
