TechRadar Pro reported on 6 October 2026 that a prepaid Three data-only SIM sold on Amazon by Scancom cost £79.99 for service through 30 November 2027—about £6.66 a month when spread across the stated term. The deal report calls it unlimited, but also cites a 1,000GB monthly fair-use policy. Its “world’s cheapest” description is not supported by a documented worldwide comparison, so treat that as the publication’s judgment, not a verified ranking.
What the £6.66 figure means
The reported £6.66 per month is a pro-rated equivalent, not a monthly bill: the stated purchase price is £79.99 upfront for prepaid service through 30 November 2027. TechRadar Pro also reported a 60% discount against a £199.99 reference price and an approximate cost of £0.20 per day. These are the deal report’s figures, not independently verified live-listing terms. What “unlimited” includes—and what it does not
TechRadar Pro describes the package as unlimited data but reports a fair-use policy of 1,000GB per month. That is a substantial allowance, but it is a stated threshold rather than evidence of uncapped use. The SIM is data-only: according to the report, it cannot make outgoing calls or send texts, although it has an attached number that can receive them. The offer also does not include roaming.

The deal report says 5G comes at no extra charge. A 5G-capable device and local 5G coverage are required, and speeds vary with the network, location and equipment. Three’s general roaming guidance and 5G information explain network conditions, but their terms should not be assumed to override this separate prepaid offer’s stated exclusions.

Three’s official SIM support describes hotspot use for eligible unlimited plans in domestic use; that does not establish that this third-party Scancom SIM will work in every router or hotspot. If you want home or portable broadband, check device compatibility with the seller and confirm coverage where you will use it. Budget separately for an unlocked compatible router or hotspot if you do not already own one.

Is it really the world’s cheapest unlimited data plan?
TechRadar Pro’s headline calls it the world’s cheapest, and its managing editor, Désiré Athow, described the plan as his choice “(and in the world, I’d wager).” That is explicitly a personal judgment. The report does not provide a worldwide comparison set or methodology, and the UK comparison pages above do not establish a global ranking. The defensible conclusion is narrower: it is a low-cost prepaid UK data SIM on the terms reported, subject to its fair-use limit and lack of outgoing calls, texts and roaming.
