To complete Practicum in Advanced Alchemy in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, help Gremist at Gedyneith on Ard Skellig with three favors: retrieve pimpernel, make Skellige Spirit at an abandoned distillery, and recruit Fritjof for a ritual. You can tackle the favors in any order. The pimpernel task includes an optional choice about whether to kill a succubus; either route leads to the flower.
Where to find Gremist and start the quest
Gremist is at Gedyneith, near the sacred oak on Ard Skellig. He initially refuses to teach Geralt advanced alchemy, but offers to consider him as an apprentice if he completes three favors. The quest can also be triggered by asking the herbalist northeast of Oxenfurt about advanced alchemy, or by asking alchemists about a master alchemist.

The favors are order-flexible: find pimpernel in Morskogen Forest, retrieve spirit from the abandoned distillery on Hail Hill, and persuade Fritjof near Blandare to help with a rite.

Use Witcher Senses to follow the trail connected to Gremist’s missing apprentice, Ramund, and locate the flower. During the investigation, a druid tracker urges Geralt to kill the succubus. You can agree and fight her, or refuse and accompany her to her cave, where the pimpernel is located.

The guides describe these immediate routes but do not establish a larger downstream consequence for the choice. They also do not substantiate a difference in the final ingredient reward between the two paths.
Make Skellige Spirit at the abandoned distillery
Go to the old distillery on Hail Hill, clear the area, and find the instructions. The process depends on completing the equipment steps in order:

- Put the mash into the evaporator.
- Light the evaporator’s fire.
- Operate the condenser levers: pull the right lever first, then the left.
- Collect the finished Skellige Spirit from the barrel beside the condenser.
Recruit Fritjof for the ritual
Find Fritjof in Blandare and agree to help him cast a rain spell. Foglets attack while the ritual is underway, so defend him until it is complete. GameBanshee describes these foglets as level 23; that is a guide-specific gameplay detail, not a guarantee about every player’s experience.

Once all three favors are complete, return to Gremist and Fritjof. They send Geralt away for 24 hours. Wait that long, return, and speak with Gremist to finish the quest.

The reward listings agree on five each of Alcohest, Han Fiber, Saltpeter, and Sulfur. XP is presented differently by the references: GameBanshee reports 80 XP for each favor and 80 XP for the final conversation, while The Official Witcher Wiki lists 240 XP as the quest reward. These are different ways of presenting the total, not evidence of an extra unlisted payout.
Gremist becomes available for purchases after the quest. This quest does not teach Geralt an alchemy recipe.
