It recompiles the game’s PowerPC code into an x86-64 executable, so the game code runs on the PC’s CPU, while software derived from the Xenia emulator supplies Xbox 360 system services. It is not an EA-issued PC port, and you must provide your own Xbox 360 game ISO.
What “native PC” means here
The project converts the Xbox 360 executable’s PowerPC code into C++ and builds it as an x86-64 program. That makes “native” a fair description of how the game code executes on a PC processor; it does not mean the developers rewrote every part of the game for PC. ReXGlue, derived from Xenia, provides Xbox 360 kernel, audio, input and graphics layers.

TechEBlog reported that roughly 82,000 game functions had been converted. That is the outlet’s reported figure, not a metric independently stated in the project’s documentation.

Is it official, and do you need the Xbox 360 game?
No: this is an unofficial, non-commercial fan project, not an EA release. The project says it is not affiliated with or endorsed by EA, Fox, Microsoft or other rights holders. Its repository and releases do not include original game assets. In the project’s words: “This project does not include any game content. You need your own copy of the Xbox 360 game.” Backup laws vary by jurisdiction.

The main target is the US Xbox 360 release, title ID 45410809. The European release also boots and plays, but has had less testing. The launcher installs files from the ISO you supply; it does not turn the download into a bundled copy of the game.

- The standard build requires a 64-bit x86 CPU with AVX2. A separate NoAVX2 package supports CPUs with SSE4.2, at lower speed.
- The project README estimates about 5 GB of free disk space.
- A controller is recommended, not required: keyboard and mouse controls are supported and rebindable.
How to install it
- Obtain the Xbox 360 ISO from your own copy of the game. The project does not provide game files.
- Download the appropriate release for your platform and CPU. Use the NoAVX2 package if your 64-bit x86 processor supports SSE4.2 but not AVX2.
- On Linux or Steam Deck, run
Play.sh. On Windows, runsimpsons-launcher.exe. - Use the launcher to install the game from your ISO, then configure your controls and graphics options. The launcher also supports adding the game to Steam.
Frame rate, graphics and controls
The project documents 60 FPS gameplay, enhanced render scale or supersampling, anisotropic filtering and FXAA. It supports controllers as well as configurable keyboard-and-mouse controls, including mouse-look.

The game’s scheduler cannot exceed 60 FPS, so selecting 90 or 120 FPS does not produce more frames and may make pacing less even. Menus, title screens and loading screens remain at 30 FPS because their logic runs once per frame.

The original game was built for 30 FPS, and some scripted events can behave incorrectly at 60. The README specifically warns that players may die randomly at the dam in “Lisa the Tree Hugger”; if that happens, switch that section to 30 FPS.

What Steam Deck performance has been reported?
In an October 4, 2026 article, DSOGaming reported that an update raised Steam Deck performance at 2x resolution from 50 FPS to about 59 FPS. The outlet also said shaders are precompiled to help avoid stutter when loading areas. Those are DSOGaming’s reported figures and observations, not results from an independent test here.

The project describes its work as ongoing. Linux and Steam Deck are its main testing focus; Windows is playable but less tested. The roadmap lists a fully native renderer, widescreen support, fixes, restored content and mods as improvements still to come, so those should not be treated as completed features.
